The rain continued to pour relentlessly, soaking them both as Aayansh stood there, holding Ishanvi close. Her breathing had started to even out, her body no longer trembling violently. It was only when he felt the weight in his arms grow heavier that he realized—she had fallen asleep.

He looked down at her, strands of wet hair sticking to her face, her eyelashes damp with tears. Even in her sleep, her arms remained locked around his neck, refusing to let go.

Aayansh sighed, shaking his head slightly. Yeh ladki mujhe hamesha kisi na kisi tarah pareshan karke hi chhodti hai, he thought, a hint of amusement flickering in his otherwise tense expression.

[This girl always finds a way to trouble me.]

Carefully, he carried her towards the car, shielding her as much as he could from the rain. Reaching the passenger side, he opened the door and gently tried to make her sit.

But the moment he moved her slightly away from him, her grip tightened. Even in sleep, she clung to him, her fingers fisting his drenched kurta as if afraid he would disappear.

Aayansh froze, looking at her peaceful yet exhausted face. A strange, unfamiliar warmth settled in his chest.

Great. Now what?

He let out a deep breath, realizing there was no other option. Agar yeh mujhe chod hi nahi rahi toh mujhe isi tarah chalana padega, he muttered to himself.

[If she isn’t letting go, then I’ll have to drive like this.]

Adjusting her carefully in his hold, he moved to the driver’s side, opened the door, and somehow managed to slide into the seat without disturbing her too much.

With one arm wrapped securely around her, he started the car.

The engine roared to life, and as he drove through the now-muddy roads, Aayansh tightened his hold on Ishanvi, making sure she was warm and safe in his arms.

The storm raged outside, but inside the car, there was an unexpected sense of calm—a silent moment shared between two souls, one lost in sleep and the other, unknowingly, being pulled closer to something he never thought he needed.

As Aayansh drove through the stormy night, his mind kept replaying the past hour. The way Ishanvi had panicked, the way she had screamed, the way she had broken down completely in his arms.

She died because of me.

Those words echoed in his mind, making his grip on the steering wheel tighten. What did she mean? Who was she talking about? And why the hell had he never known about this before?

Frustration bubbled inside him. He didn’t like being left in the dark—especially not when it concerned her.

His gaze flickered to Ishanvi, still fast asleep against his chest, her breathing steady but face still showing signs of exhaustion. He knew one person who might have the answers.
