"Parents, as you all have been informed our 10th grade students have gone missing M'kay" Mr. Mackey began, gripping the side of the podium with both hands, a strong firm grip of stress.
This was the breaking point of his entire career. Principal Victoria had forced him and Mr. Adler to handle the students, while she went out in front of the school and handled the press. The police had wanted her to issue a statement, and she had willing done it reluctantly after being persuaded by Mr. Adler.
Randy sat in his chair in the gym, Sharon sitting next to him, holding a tissue to her eyes and wiping them ever to softly and sobbing into Randy's coat. Sharon and Randy had been divorced for only a couple of months now and they still acted like a married couple. Sharon was holding Randy's hand with the grip of death.
"Have you located where our son is?" Linda and Stephen Scotch asked, Linda staying sitting down and crying into her hands while Stephen looked sick, pale and weak.
"The rescue teams have not yet been able to find where the bus crashed into the canon but they are working on it" Mr. Adler assured, putting his hands up for reassurance. Mr. Mackey was better at handling the crowds. With his soft soothing voice and Mr. Adler's was quiet and deep, and thick.
"How do you even know they are in the canon?" Clyde's father Roger stood up, and placing a hand on his hip, pressuring Mr. Mackey with more stress.
Mr. Mackey could already feel the last strands of hair on the top of his head falling out from the pressure. "As soon as the bus crashed we were sent a radio message that had been dispatched" Mr. Mackey explained, calming down the crowd a little "We believe the voice on the other end was Ms. Crabtree, who was driving the bus at the time"
Randy leaned forward, stomach tightening up. He felt as if he was going to puke. He leaned forward and adjusted his body weight. His stomach was saying "Barf" his head was saying "just hold it in" and his heart was saying "Stan"
His eyes went wide at the thought of his last conversation with his son, he rubbed the bridge of his nose and sighed, feeling tears start to form in his dehydrated eyes, but he did not let them fall, he did not let them fall.
This time his body language switched his stomach was still saying "Barf" his head said "Don't cry you bastard, don't be a baby" while his heart told him a different story "It's your son. Cry" He chose to listen to his head.
"How much longer until the bus is recovered?" Sheila started to panic and her chest was heaving up and down, her breathing unsteady and not in a pattern "How do you know our children are still alive?" Sheila cried and tears ruined the make up on her cheeks. Gerald stood up and pushed Sheila back into her seat, letting her cry comfortingly on his shoulder.
I don't know, Mr. Mackey thought. He gulped, I don't know.
I don't know.
