The birds chirping outside my window prove to be a calm alarm for a Saturday morning. The sheets caress my skin like a feather, cocooning me in a warm embrace. As I turn sideways to glance at the window, the sun rays hit my face directly. I take a deep breath and savour the moment.

The pink curtains are halfway blocking all the glow from the sun, but at the same time, they're projecting a pink one on the ceiling, which is covered in bright flowers. I reach over to my bedside table and switch off my latest gift.

I can't believe my brothers were so attentive they went to great lengths to construct a new ceiling so I won't be fearful at night. I can't believe they noticed: the lack of hours of sleep, the little purple circles beneath my eyes, the light that would remain on all night until someone came and flicked it off.

I'm not used to this level of consideration. Of course Veli was always focused on my well-being, but she was one person. Now I've got five other brothers to do that too and it feels so surreal.

I slip into my shoes as I get off the messy bed. Before going to the bathroom, I rapidly let all the natural light from the window cast a nice glow in my room.

As I take a swift glimpse at the garden and discern the birds singing their melodies, I pause for a moment to take it all in. Even though it's cold outside, it doesn't seem to be the case when you're observing the picturesque view from up here.

Slipping into some grey jeans and baby pink hoodie, I quickly tidy up my room before exiting my room, ready to tackle any obstacle the Universe might throw at me.

It's a new day. It's a fresh start. It's another opportunity.

Upon descending the stairs, I encounter my fourth oldest, who mumbles a "good morning, honey" along with a tender kiss on my hair before disappearing around the corner. Strolling into the dining room to check if there's anybody else in the house, I spot the twins having avocado toast for breakfast and as I approach the duo, one of them stands up and heads for the kitchen.

I plop down on the chair next to Kipp while he incoherently mumbles a "morning, hermanita" while he munches on his deliciously mouth-watering breakfast. "Hi."

As he engulfs another price of toast, he wonders out loud, "Are you ready for the day?"

I respond with an exaggerated nod as I discern what he's drinking. "Is that ColaCao?"

"Hmh," my brother agrees with a gleeful look. "Want one? Niko can make it in less than five minutes."

"I'll tell him, then," I decide, nodding and preparing myself mentally to ask him for something as insignificant as a drink.

Walking into the kitchen, I notice how Niko moves with ease around the area, preparing a dish. Without even peeking at me, he inquiries, "You like ham, right?"
