Nayantara's pov
It had been a month since Anirudh and I became the king and queen of Rajgarh. Everything had been going smoothly, and we adapted to our new responsibilities pretty well. Of course, there were challenges, especially for me, but with the help of Maasa and Anirudh, I didn't face too many difficulties.
Our lives had been good, despite not having much time to spend together. However, we always managed to find little moments to talk and appreciate each other's presence. Since the coronation ceremony, everything had changed, including our relationship. It developed into another level.
After that memorable night, we found it hard to stay apart. Our physical connection grew stronger. It wasn't something that happened every day, but we couldn't resist touching each other. It was new for both of us, and we were exploring each other in every way possible.
Beyond the physical bond, our emotional connection was also getting stronger. Despite his busy schedule with the kingdom's duties, Anirudh always made time to make me feel cherished. He would ensure we shared at least one meal a day and would give me fresh flowers every morning.
It felt like I was living the life I had always imagined before marriage. Everything seemed perfect.
But there was still a looming threat; his Tausa.
While I had been both relieved and anxious during the past month, since Tausa had hurriedly left for his own kingdom, I couldn’t shake the feeling that he was planning something. My fears were confirmed two days ago when Tausa and his family arrived unexpectedly.
The look he gave me when he saw me made it clear that he was up to something, or had already set something in motion. I knew he didn’t come to Rajgarh without a reason this time.
"Nayantara."
I looked up to see Maasa coming out from her dressing room. We had been chatting idly in her chamber, discussing nothing in particular.
She handed me a long plate covered with a red velvet cloth.
"Could you take this to Taisa? Afterward, tell her to join us in the hall; the family will spend some time together,"
she requested. I nodded and stood up, taking the plate from her.
"Okay,"
I replied. She smiled and gave me a small nod.
It was night, and the palace was illuminated by the soft glow of oil lamps. As I reached the front of Taisa's chamber, I noticed with confusion that there were no soldiers guarding the area.
I knocked twice, but when there was no response, I noticed the door wasn't locked. So, I entered. The room was empty, but I still called out.
"Taisa?"
No answer.
"Taisa?"
Still nothing.
I sighed and placed the plate on the table. I stood there for a moment, scanning the room, before turning to leave. But as I was about to step out, my gaze fell upon a small, open almirah. Inside, I could see a box containing what looked like scrolls.
My feet moved almost on their own, guiding me toward the almirah. I took out the box, and saw that it was already open. There were two scrolls inside. I swallowed nervously as I glanced around.
I knew it wasn't right to snoop through someone’s belongings without permission. But my curiosity got the better of me, and a voice inside urged me to open the scrolls. Hesitantly, I placed the box on the table, unrolled the first scroll, and began reading.
