Nayantara's pov

As my eyes gradually fluttered open, I found myself surrounded by an eerie, impenetrable darkness of a dense forest. The sky above was devoid of any celestial presence, shrouded in inky blackness. Riding atop a horse, I observed the trees swiftly whizzing past me. The biting chill of the forceful wind pierced through me, intensifying the sensation of coldness.

I was dizzy; I didn’t know where I was or where I was going. My head ached with pain. I looked at my state and realized my clothes were ripped in many places, with my lehenga covered in dirt.

A droplet of blood fell on my lehenga. As I touched my lips, I discovered blood trickling from them. Due to the imbalance, I began to stumble, but just before I could fall, I felt a firm pair of arms encircling my waist protectively, assisting me in regaining my balance.

I looked over my shoulder and gasped when I gazed into the most mesmerizing pair of eyes staring back at me. His hair was disheveled, blood dripping from his forehead. His clothes were also tattered in many places. He was riding a horse.

I furrowed my brow. I didn’t know what was happening, why we were in this state. We were just continuously moving ahead in the dark forest.

Suddenly, we came to a halt, and I realized we were surrounded by many goons. People on horses surrounded us, all wearing black clothes with their faces covered. They were armed, and I realized we were unarmed. We looked around for any way to escape, but there was none. They were many in number.

An arrow came in our direction with such speed that I didn’t know what to do for a second, but the person behind me held me and bent down, making the arrow pass over us.

I looked ahead and saw some people trying to attack us again. But before they could, we were moving with such speed that I didn’t even have time to comprehend it. We made our way through the small spaces between the trees. My hands were scratched because of the leaves passing by. They followed us closely behind.

We tried to move fast, but they were attacking us from behind, making it difficult to move. One mistake, and the arrow would hit us. We didn’t lose hope and continued moving, but suddenly, we fell off the horse. I saw that an arrow was stuck in the horse’s leg, blood seeping out.

The horse neighed in pain. I immediately tore a small piece of cloth from my dupatta and tied it around the wound. As soon as I was done, my hand was grabbed by the person with me. He took my hand, and we started moving, but before we could get far, we were already surrounded by many goons.

They came toward us with swords in their hands. A hand came in front of me, and I looked up at him. He stepped in front of me, protecting me from the goons. He drew his sword, which I hadn’t known he had until now.

Soon, the fight began, and people started attacking him. My heart pounded loudly in my chest. I just prayed for our safety. Suddenly, I saw someone moving with a sword toward him from behind. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. I looked around and saw a large stone. I immediately grabbed it and, with all my force, threw it in his direction. It hit him in the head, making him groan. He looked at me, stood up, and came in my direction.

I took a step back and tried to run, but he caught me by my hair. I groaned in pain and tried to free myself, but all in vain. I looked at him, and he was smirking. I felt a stinging pain on my left cheek. I looked at him with bloodshot eyes and kicked him with all my force in the stomach. He groaned and released my hair.
