The clock had struck midnight, and the town lay silent under the moonlit sky. A cool breeze rustled through the trees, carrying the faint sounds of crickets. Outside a two-storey house, Atharv stood on the ground floor beneath a window on the first floor, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He picked up a small pebble and tossed it lightly against the glass. Tap! Then another. Tap!
Inside, Sanchi stirred in her sleep, her brows furrowing at the unfamiliar noise. As the third pebble struck, her eyes fluttered open. Groggy and confused, she sat up and looked toward the window. When she saw a figure standing below, her eyes widened in shock. She rushed to the window, pushing it open.
"Atharv?!" she whisper-yelled. "What are you doing here? How did you find my house?"
Atharv smirked, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Come down first. I'll explain."
Sanchi narrowed her eyes. "What if you kidnap me?" she asked, folding her arms. "And what if I fall? I am my parents' only daughter, you know."
Atharv snickered. "But you have a brother too, don't you?"
Sanchi huffed. "I said daughter, not child! Of course, we are two, but I am their only daughter."
Atharv burst into laughter. "You and your technicalities." Then, softening a bit, he extended his arms. "Come down. I won't let you fall, trust me."
Sanchi met his gaze, something deep flickering in her eyes. I do, she thought but didn't say it aloud and instead said ," Don't break my trust, I hate it when someone does that." Taking a deep breath, she swung her leg over the windowsill and began climbing down.
Halfway, her foot slipped. "Ahh-"
Before she could crash to the ground, Atharv swiftly caught her. For a brief moment, she clutched onto his shoulders, her face inches from his. His arms tightened around her protectively. Their breaths mingled in the cool night air, and their eyes locked.
Realizing their closeness, they quickly stepped back, clearing their throats.

Sanchi brushed her hair behind her ear. "Now, tell me. How did you find my house?"
Atharv scratched the back of his neck, looking a bit sheepish. "Uhh... I hacked your phone."
Sanchi's mouth fell open. "Holy God!"
He raised his hands defensively. "I swear, I didn't look at anything else! Just your address. And I won't do it again."
Sanchi shook her head in disbelief but let it slide. "Fine. But what's the point of meeting at midnight instead of the usual midpoint?"
Atharv's expression shifted, as if he was searching for the right words. "I just... I wanted you-I mean, I wanted to do something silly but meaningful. So I came here."
