Chapter 10.5: Old Friends

Denise came rushing out "What's wrong, what happened?" she said but by the look on his face she could guess what it might be and started grabbing her things.

Daryl panting "I think, she's goin into shock..." Dr Cloyd grabbed what she could and they hurried off up the street. "Tara! Go fetch Rosita, I need her here now!"

"What happend did she collapse, Is she coughing up blood?" Denise asked running up the stairs, entering the first room on her right. "Shit" she muttered under her voice as her eyes fell apone Amber.

Amber was now curled up on her side facing the door unconscious. Her skin pale and covered is cold sweat. "she's loosing a lot of blood ..." Lifting her top up she check her back first, Ambers right side was Reddish, Purple and swollen. "I need to find the bleed and stop it. I'll have to do it here, can't risk moving her, might make it worse." she rummaged through her bag taking out a sterile kit of surgical instruments. "I need you to get clean towels, Lot of them!" Daryl grabbed what he could as Rosita came running in.

"Hey, whats goin on?" Rosita needn't have asked the look one Daryl's face said it all. Following him back into the room as he handed over the towels to Denise. Amber was now lying on her back, Dr Cloyd had already prep her the Iodine now staining her skin.

"Okay, Rosita I need you to set up an IV & a blood transfusion. Daryl we're gunna need some of your blood..." Rosita started on the IV straight away, conecting Amber up to a Saline Soloution.

"but I don't know what my blood type is, won't that kill her?" Daryl shock his head angerily panic in his voice.

"Daryl, Trust me it won't... Amber's Blood is AB Positive..." she said firmly as she began to make her first incision, blood began poring everywhere as Denise got though the layers of skin & Flesh. Not being able to see where it was all coming from she inserted a clean tea-towel to steam the flow.

"Come on..." Rosita took Daryls arm and began drawing blood. "....AB Positive paients can use any blood type without the body rejecting it.." Rosita said calmly trying to reasure Daryl.

Daryl simply nodded sitting down in the chair.

"...a patient with a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm may be unconscious, in shock with no blood pressure, and a feeble pulse...." Denise muttered grabbing the needle and freed. Rosita watched as she tried not to cringe at the amount of blood

She finished fixing the tear before check for more. Giving a small sigh of relief "got it, ..." she swapped the blood stained towel with a fresh one cleaning the wound before stitching her back up. Dr Cloyd checking Ambers vital signs "Rosita, she's gunna need that blood now. her blood pressure is dangerously low..." her blood pressure was practically none existent just like her pulse.

"She gunna be okay....?" Daryl was stood at the foot of the bed, looking almost as pale as Amber. Rosita now attaching the fresh bag of blood to her IV. Denise stood up to looking at him "She's in a critical sate Dixon.. Her body may have already started...."

Denise was cut off mid sentence Amber now being held down on the bed by Rosita. She had began having a seizure falling still as Denise rushed over checking for a pulse but there was none. "She's gone into cardiac arrest..!" Denise started CPR shouting for Rosita to get a respirator. 2 minuets later Amber's Pulse had returned, Dr Cloyd checking her eyes with the torch "...she's stable, for now." Daryl was frozen to the spot through out, his eye's glazed over swaying as he stood there in the corner of the room staring at Amber, lying on the blood soaked towels.

Denise began packing her things "Thank you Rosita, can you take these back to the infirmary please" Rosita nodded as she left the room "I need to get back to the infirmary. Is there anything you need? anyone you want me to send up..?" Dixon didn't respond He was still stood there in shock. "I'll be back soon to check on her." As he heard Denise leave through the front door Daryl began to brake down sinking to the floor.
