Chapter 5: Can't Run Forever

Rick eventually decides he will just knock, much to the shock of the others. "Negan wants us to be submissive and work for him, not go to war. It will be enough of a Fuck you, to show him that we know where he lives and it might catch him off balance enough to give up Carl."

On their way to The Sanctuary they run across Negan and his men in a truck, "We were just heading to Alexandria, it's mighty convenient to meet You guyz all the way out here!"

"We were just headed to see you to actually."

Negan "That is strange that you were heading in the right direction.."

"Where is Carl? Where is he!"

"That's the very reason I was heading over, if you can believe it..." Negan gave a grin from ear to ear "I can't wait for you to see what I've done to his little boy."

After Rick hears that Negan has done something to Carl, Rick reacts by head-butting Negan. Negan's men are about to break up the fight, but, Negan commands them not to. Rick kicks Negan down while asking repeatedly, "Where is my son?." Negan starts to strangle Rick and says he will not let a one-armed man beat him in front of his own men. As Negan strangles Rick, he says he will regret it, and commands The Saviours to take the boy out. Negan tells Michonne to stand down and Rick to calm down

"Rick stop!" Michonne cries out pointing behind Rick to Carl

Just then, Carl calls for his father. Carl and Rick hug and Negan explains he can be reasonable and that he doesn't like killing people. Negan & The Saviours pile into the truck, Rick, Carl and the group watching as Them drive away.

Meanwhile Ewgine, Holly, Tara, and Rosita check out the machinery for creating new ammunition.

Rick announces to the community that Carl is safe at home, and is happy that Negan spared his life;

"I know we're all excited to see Carl back safe and sound, but there's alot of work to be done. Olivia I need you to work with Sasha to get all the supplies we picked up today categorised and sperated. We need to store the saviours cut for when they come to pick it up.

Negan spared my son. He wanted to show he can be reasonable... I'm taking the gesture at Face Value. It makes me think that he can be trusted and that I have made the right decision. Let's all hope that that's actually the case.

This will be though on us moving forward, but it will be worth it in the end. Thank you for continuing to trust me. I believe we can do great things by working together as we have done. I truly believe that things will get better from here on out... It's time to be optimistic."

"Are you insane! ....What the hell are you playing at?!" Amber storms up to Rick as the crowds disperse, shaking with rage. "Lying to these people, you're goin to end up with them turning against you out of Fear as soon as you go up against Negan... There will be death and destruction starting with this place and your people! They are walking into this blindly! "

"& what of you ? Mm... you hide behind us in these walls, live amongst my people, and you have done nothing to help us with taking him down..! What are you here for other than to hide?!" Rick questioned her in harsh but hushed tones.

Amber's face light up like a traffic light, she could feel her blood rush the surface of her skin as he spoke. Before Amber had time to respond Rick continued before walking away "That's what I thought, I think it's time you left..."

Carol who was stood by Rick's side stood there for a moment longer contemplating Amber with cold eye's before to walking away to join Rick. "They don't get it..." Amber said to her self not realising Daryl stood right behind her.

"Don't get what?" The sound of Daryl's husky voice almost made her jump as she spun on her heels.

"Sorry...I didn't see you there." as she went to walk away Daryl grabbed her arm pulling her back and asked her the question again. Amber froze staring at his hand till he got the hint and let go. Pushing past him Amber walked over to the gate, asking to be let out.

Daryl & Ku followed her, getting to the tree line Daryl had caught up with her. "What you doin'?"

"Leaving" Amber said simply eye's focused straight ahead avoiding his gaze.. Daryl followed. Her pace quickened till she was almost in a jog Daryl Keeping up her pace just made her speed up.

"Come on, I know there's something your not telling us... just tell me. I need to know... Hey! Where are you going" Daryl went to grab her arm and turn her around, I doing so this was a big mistake.

Amber screaming at him as she lunged for him tackling him to the floor "Don't fucking touch me!"

"Stop! Amber!" The 2 scuffling on the floor for several minuets Dixon defending him self from Ambers right hook, attempting to subdue her... "...Enough!" with Amber finally pinned to the floor by Daryl both Amber & Dixon attempted to catch their breath. Daryl face to face with Amber, his anger at her faded despite her steely glares. "...there's, alot more, goin on then, then your willin' to tell ain't there..?" Daryl panted trying to get his words out. A flicker of fear, panic, & regret in her eye's gave him the answer he was looking for. Before he could say another word her teeth clinched as she kicked him off before jumping to her feet. Storming off again, shooting down a walker as she went. Daryl sat there for a moment, never met anyone that defensive before...fuck sake. Daryl got up on his feet, picked up his bow and caught up with Amber. She didn't head for the the gate, instead she headed further into the woods.

"We all want the same thing ya know.... There's no reason for us to fight each other" Daryl called to her "You been through hell? so have we. We have good people here & I we will do what ever to keep them safe. Do you understand?" Daryl now by her side keeping up with her pace. Amber didn't say a word just gave one single nod of recognition. "Can you... just, Stop... You can run forever..! " Ambers pace almost broke out into a run she speed up faster and faster till she didn't even notice where she was goin...

THUD!

Amber hit the floor face all bloody, her head was pounding... but that wasn't the only thing she bump into..!
