Wanda lay in the bed she had once shared with Y/N, the room was in complete darkness, only a single beam of sunlight breaking through the small gap in the curtains. Fresh tears falling down her already tear stained cheeks, turning over to face Y/N's unnoccupied side, still made like it was the morning they left.
--
Wanda watched as Y/N made their bed, tucking the sheets firmly as Wanda only smiled at the concentration on their face, their tongue peaking out from between their lips.
"You're staring again." Y/N pointed out, a shy smile on their face as they glanced up at Wanda.
"I'm not staring, I'm admiring." She told them. "You know you're adorable when you concentrate."
"Nope." Y/N shook their head, moving to put on their boots, getting ready for another long shift at the station. "I am not adorable." Wanda chuckled as she moved behind them, resting her chin on their shoulder as she wrapped her arms around their waist.
"I wish we could just stay here all day." She whispered, pressing a light kiss to their shoulder.
"Me too." Y/N moved slightly, making it easier for them to kiss her cheek. "How about we take a trip for our anniversary? I'm sure I can get some holidays in? Just the two of us, somewhere quiet and peaceful."
"How about that cabin we went to? The one where you proposed to me?" She asked them with hopeful eyes.
"Of course, I loved it there." Y/N spoke thoughtfully, remembering the scenery and the sound of the birds singing, which was the only sound apart from the water softly flowing in the lake. "How about you book it today? While I'm at work?"
"I will." She nodded, moving to stand up, Y/N soon following her. "Be safe?"
"I'll try my best." Y/N told her, a soft smile on their lips before they kissed her gently. "I love you, so so much." They whispered before she kissed them once more.
"I love you more than you'll ever know." She told them, watching as they made sure their uniform was ready before heading out of the door.
--
Wanda reached her hand over to their side, lightly tracing their pillow, hoping that this was all just a nightmare that she has yet to wake from. Closing her eyes tightly, trying to stop a new wave of tears from falling.
"I wish you were here." She whispered, her hand moving to pick up the picture of them she placed on their pillow. "I need you to tell me it will be alright. Tell me that it will get better." She took a shaky breath before she turned to lay on her back, the picture held closely to her chest, wishing to be able to hear their voice once more.
--
Wanda was getting stressed out, it had been a few months since they had both moved into their own home, one that they had bought together. The home in which they wanted to build a family of their own.
"Hey, it's going to be okay." Y/N reassured her, wrapping their arms around her from behind, their contact grounding her from her spiral.
"I hope so." She whispered. "It's just that, my parents haven't seen our new home and I'm scared that my father won't approve of it." She took a deep breath. "Especially since we haven't exactly finished the refurb."
"I know it's still a bit of a fixer upper, but it's ours, all ours." They told her. "And we will finish it, but it will just take time, and I'm sure your parents will understand."
"Thank you." She whispered, turning around in their arms, burying her head in their chest as she wrapped her arms around them, inhaling deeply, allowing their scent to invade all of her senses, a sense of calm soon spreading over her, always finding her comfort in Y/N.
