The fresh morning air was crisp as Luna McKelly made her way to the Metro Nashville Police Department. She stepped inside, carrying a bag of snacks for Maxim and the hardworking officers. As she approached the door, she knocked lightly. When it opened, a broad-shouldered man stood before her, offering a friendly smile.

"Well, you must be Luna," he said.

Luna returned the smile. "That's me. And you are?"

"Darnell Sherwood," he introduced himself.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Sherwood," Luna replied.

"I'm grateful to meet you too, Miss McKelly," Darnell said warmly.

Luna lifted the bag slightly. "I brought some food for everyone working here. Feel free to let them know."

"Of course," Darnell said. "And if you'd like, you can sit for a while."

"Thank you, Mr. Sherwood."

Darnell chuckled. "No need for the formalities-just call me Darnell."

Luna nodded. "Alright, Darnell, if that's what you prefer."

Darnell leaned against the doorframe. "Actually, when you were missing, I was the one who became Maxim's temporary partner while we searched for you."

Luna's expression softened. "Maxim told me. I'm grateful you stepped in to help him."

"Just part of the job," Darnell said with a shrug.

"Speaking of which, where is Maxim?" she asked.

"You know how he is with his cappuccino," Darnell said with a smirk. "He stepped out to grab one."

Luna chuckled. "Sounds like Maxim. I'll wait for him here while you get back to work."

Darnell nodded. "Sounds good. Make yourself comfortable."

As Maxim Collin walked back to the office, the aroma of fresh cappuccino filled the air around him. With a contented sigh, he approached the door and knocked.

Inside, Luna and Darnell heard the sound. Darnell stood up and opened the door with a knowing smile. "You're back. Come in."

Maxim stepped in, immediately handing Darnell a cup. "Here's your cappuccino, man."

Darnell accepted it gratefully. "Well, thank you for this hot cup of heaven."

Maxim chuckled. "You're welcome."

As Darnell returned to his seat, Luna walked up to Maxim, her eyes lighting up the moment she saw him. Before she could say a word, Maxim gently pulled her into his arms. With no hesitation, he leaned in and kissed her, deep and full of longing.

Luna gasped softly at the sudden but welcome affection, her hand instinctively resting on his broad chest. Maxim's arms wrapped around her waist, holding her close as he deepened the kiss, savoring the moment. Her heart pounded as warmth spread through her body, completely lost in his embrace.

When he finally pulled away, Maxim smiled down at her. "I missed you, my queen."

Luna's cheeks burned as she tried to catch her breath. Darnell, still watching, smirked and shook his head. "Well, that was sweet."

Maxim chuckled. "Had to make up for lost time."

Luna playfully nudged him. "I brought food for you and your coworkers so you won't have to go out for lunch."

Maxim's expression softened even more. "That's the sweetest thing, babe. Always taking care of me."

Luna looked down shyly, twirling a strand of her hair. "Well... my friends-Kelsey, Lauren, and Jersey-and I are planning a farm trip for our vacation. I'd love for you to come with us."
