"I'm so sorry for all that I've done to you."
Superman stared into Conner's eyes. So blue. So familiar. How had he let himself disregard their connection for so long, when Conner so clearly had his eyes?

Metropolis had been so quiet that Clark actually let himself agree to a date with Lois. Of course, it would have to be a late meal, as her schedule was already tied up. However, seeing as he wasn't working the next day anyway, Clark didn't mind waiting up for her. It only figured that, when he was in the middle of picking out a tie, he heard his name. Or rather, Superman's name.
"Hey, Superman!"
Clark immediately whipped his head back and forth, as though whoever was talking was in the room with him. Super hearing was weird like that sometimes.
"I know that you can hear me," the voice continued to yell, "so listen up, please! I need to speak with you! Like, right now! It's an emergency!"
Clark lifted an eyebrow, before walking over to the window of his apartment. The owner of the voice didn't have the same sense of panic that most people did when they were calling out for his help. There also didn't seem to be any sirens or flashing lights, the typical signs of an emergency within the city. Clark could be obliged to shrug it off and focus on his upcoming date, but he knew that wasn't right. The voice sounded young, probably just a kid.
(That wouldn't be unusual. Children often love to test out if he can really hear them from anywhere in Metropolis.)
Anything could be considered an emergency to a kid. From dropping an ice cream cone, to pets running away, to toddlers dangling from ten story buildings, Clark has dealt with it all. Oh well, he supposed that Lois would understand. She loved kids.
(Although, even she might draw the line when it came to Batman's child.)
"Took you long enough," griped an obviously peeved Robin, as Clark landed in front of him and Nightwing. "Do you know how many civilians could have died in the time that you wasted being so slow?"
"Robin!" Nightwing quickly scolded. "Try to be a little bit less...morbidly judgy, okay? We're guests here in Superman's city."
Robin stomped his foot and glared up at Nightwing. "It's true, though! He probably wouldn't even be fast enough to stop me from—"
"And, we're done with this potentially incriminating conversation," Nightwing abruptly told him. "Now, can you go over there and play nicely, while I have a chat with Superman?"
Clark watched as Robin crossed his arms and then turned his gaze onto him. He didn't seem to be any more forgiving. Maybe he was still angry about what happened between them at Mt. Justice?
(Krypton knows that Batman can hold a grudge, so why would his son be any different?)
Thankfully, it seemed that Robin trusted Nightwing's judgment enough to do as he asked. As soon as Robin had disappeared out of earshot, Nightwing turned to Clark.
"Don't worry, he doesn't kill people anymore."
The "anymore" at the end of the sentence didn't make Clark feel any better about letting Robin roam around the city unsupervised. In fact, from what he could tell using his super senses, it seemed that Robin's idea of entertaining himself involved feeding some stray raccoons that had wandered in from a nearby park. Nightwing suddenly waved his hand in front of Clark's face.
"Please, ignore that. Robin's totally fine! He plays with wild animals, like, all the time, and Batman already made sure that we've had our rabies and tetanus shots." Nightwing crossed his arms. He then gave Clark a large frown. "Besides, you and I have something important to discuss."
