When my mom left for work she gave me a ride to Luke's house. During the ride my nerves started growing, faster each second. Socializing can be tough.
I took a deep breath before ringing the bell, and hoped that this was really Luke's house. I looked around while I waited for someone to open the door. The house is simple, a typical american house, but way bigger and better than mine.
I jumped slightly when I heard the door being unlocked. I tried to recompose myself before the door opened. I closed my eyes and took another deep breath and when I opened them again I saw Luke with the most annoyed facial expression in the world.
"Hey," I said and smiled a little bit.
He moved away from the front of the door without greeting me and I followed him inside the house. He closed the door after I got in, and only after he passed in front of me was when I noticed Luke was only wearing a t-shirt and boxers. Little, thin, black boxers. I think I forgot how to breathe.
"Are you going to stand there all day?" he arched a brow.
"O-oh, I'm sorry, I, uh-"
"Come on," he interrupted me "I'm going to get my laptop, you can sit on the couch or something.
I was going to ask where the living room is, because – like its obvious – I don't know where it is, but when the sentence was in my head and ready to say he was already going upstairs.
"Okay... he must have a habit of leaving when people are about to talk." I whispered to myself. Since he did that I tried to find the living room by myself.
I opened the door that was closest to the stairs, but it was a bathroom. I made a second attempt and peeked through the slightly open door that was just a few feet away from the first door, but it's the kitchen. Since there isn't any door left I decided to go to the kitchen, secretly wishing there wasn't anyone there. I opened the door wider and luckily for me, there really isn't anyone there. I entered the room and looked around. I like my kitchen, but Luke's is so much bigger and prettier. It has a glass door that leads to the backyard and an arch that leads to the so sought living room. I went to the living room and admired the room. It has a giant window and is so well decorated, I wouldn't mind living here.
"Ready?"
Luke's voice scared me because I wasn't expecting him, what made me slightly jump.
I nodded and sat on the couch next to him.
"Uh, where can I put my jacket?" I asked while he wrote something on his computer.
"You can put wherever you want." He made a move with his hand in my direction. I undressed the big jacket and put him on the back of the couch.
He put the computer between us so we could both see the things on the screen clearly and we started working. At first it was extremely weird, even more when I accidentally touched his hand, and because I'm a fucking idiot it took me some seconds to remove my hand from his. How I wish I had another partners, at least I know everyone else since September or longer. Having to work with someone I only met hours ago doesn't really work for me.
After some hours of work – that felt like days, mainly because Luke didn't bother to put some pants on, and that distracted me a little bit - we decided to call it a day.
"This project is going to be the death of me." I complained and leaned back on the couch with my eyes closed.
Luke whispered something I didn't understand and by the couch moving, I understood he stood up.
"Do you want to have dinner?" Luke asked, what made me open my eyes that went wide right after. I looked at him and my mouth opened unwittingly. I was definitely not expecting that.
