"No, please, no!"
This is what I woke up with. I was confused at first, thinking I was imagining stuff in my still half asleep state, but when I fell on the floor because Luke had accidentally pushed me I realized he was having a nightmare.
"Ouch." I rubbed my butt and stood up.
I kneeled down on the bed. Oh God, what do I do? After hyperventilating for some seconds I came to the conclusion I had to wake him up. I placed my hands on his shoulders and shook him to get him out of his nightmare. I thought about dropping cold water on him, but it would be too much effort to clean the mess up after.
"Luke, wake up." I pleaded even though he couldn't hear me.
After a few more seconds of shaking his body Luke finally opened his eyes and looked around with fear. His face was completely wet, mostly my sweat but he also had some tears rolling down his cheeks. I don't like seeing him like this even though he already made me cry.
I placed my hands on his cheeks and forced him to look at me at the same time that I wiped the tears that fell from his beautiful blue eyes with my thumbs.
"Luke, calm down, it was just a nightmare." I reminded him calmly in an attempt to calm him down.
Luke caught me off guard when he hugged me and buried his head on the curve of my neck. I looked at him with an expression that could be read as what are you doing, but I quickly processed what was happening and retrieved the hug. It was kind of weird, but I think he just needed a hug in this moment. I made slow circles on his back with my hand and looked around, still quite in panic.
"Uhm, do you want to talk about your nightmare?" I asked like if I was speaking to a little five year old.
"No." he replied simply and inhaled deeply, then exhaled, the air tickling the skin on my neck.
"Okay."
Luke pulled away and ran a hand through his hair. Afterwards steadying his breath and calming down he asked:
"Do you think I can take a shower?"
"Of course," I pointed to the door of my bathroom "make yourself at home."
Luke nodded and stood up, heading out to the bathroom. I lied down again and closed my eyes. The memories of this night crossed my mind. Taking off the part that something so bad happened to Luke that he had to seek out for my help I like the way he is, harmless and caring. I wish he stayed like this until at least tomorrow.
Two light knocks on the door took me out of my thoughts. I was waiting for my mom or my dad to open the door, but then I realized it was locked.
I got up at much cost and shouted "I'm coming!"
I unlocked the door and spun the doorknob.
"Good morning." I said to my mom and rubbed my eyes.
"More like good afternoon." My mom chuckled lightly.
"What?! What time is it?" I asked. I thought it was eight in the morning or something around that time of the day.
"It's ten to one." She checked her watch "I was going to call you so you'd help us in the kitchen."
"Give me just some minutes to get ready."
My mom agreed. When she was about to leave a sound of a door opening was heard, and it was inside my room.
"What was that?" my mom asked and tried to look inside my room.
That's when I started panicking.
