CHAPTER 8

Let's make this a perfect lunch for Mina and her new friend... 

That's what Momiji thought at the day before she was studying until midnight. Sure, she was secretly excited that her friend made a new companion. But, the lunch party plan in her mind made her more succumbed to late cravings. The brunette girl had already sneaked to the kitchen, yet there's nothing fulfilling in the refrigerator. It's an unfortunate event for her as her parents, grandparents, the maids, and the butlers weren't at the main house by this time. As her stomach grumbled even more, the owner of magenta eyes decided to night walk and bought something on the way. Without thinking further, she changed her nightwear to casual-warm outfit while bringing her wallet and phone then went out to minimarket.

Her destination actually was so far from her home. Momiji had to be careful because there're only a few streetlights and it's dark enough to be a place where 'accidents' could happen any seconds. Even though her parents let her be independent at night, they would often warn her about this area and she preferably to spend time within her household area. Yes, she was worried with her stomach as the source of her braveness at most right now – But, that doesn't mean she would have to abandon her needs for her late snack time.

While she was struggling to keep her hunger hidden, Momiji arrived at the minimarket in no time. She quickly bought many sweets and snacks for several days, and then, went home with sweet bean bun in her mouth. The coldness of the night made her shivering mentally and physically, reminding her of the past that she almost forgotten. There was a time where she had to deal cold weather, icy stares, and frozen fingers alone in the middle of winter and spring. Of course, she didn't tell this secret to anyone yet. Not even her parents, her grandparents, or her friends knew about it. Momiji swore to herself that she wouldn't tell anyone unless someone already discovered it or she needed to explain something related to it.

When she was sighing over the past life she had before, a sudden howl made her ears perked up in alert. Her head turned around to find the source of the danger, yet there's nothing in her sight that could made the same wavelength of the sound as it was. Realizing her life still in danger, Momiji quickened her pace so she could arrive early at her home. She was in a hurry that she didn't realize that she missed the turn to her house. Her heartbeat became faster as soon as she realized her mistake. Before Momiji could return to her original path, someone screamed from a far. "MOMI! RUN AWAY FROM HERE!"
