Prologue
I crouch down on the roof, my right hand gripping the edge as I inhale through my nostrils. I feel my body change with the delicious scent of the human below and my eyes shift from brown to crimson in an instant. I turn off my brain and let my instincts take over. I’m not a man anymore; I’m a dangerous hunter.
I jump off the roof effortlessly and land softly in the dark alleyway right beside the blond. I yank her by the hair to the brick wall and press my rigid body up against hers. What surprises me is she doesn’t even try to fight me off or even scream.
A low growl rips from my between my lips. Her blood is mine. The fire in my throat flares and I can’t think of anything other than my insane thirst. I can feel the heat under her skin and hear the sound of her pulse thudding close to the surface.
My pointy fangs trail down her throbbing neck and I prepare myself for the impact of her blood. I’ve never smelt anything like it before. It’s so sweet and addictive. It will easily quench the painful nagging in my throat. But it will take all my self-control not to drain her dry.
“Kill me,” the beautiful human whispers.
I pull away from her neck and meet her emerald eyes. They hold pure ecstasy and I find myself intrigued by this woman. Do lions ever pause before killing their prey? No they don’t. So why am I hesitating?
I’m a vampire for Satan’s sake! I should be leeching off her already! But I can’t bring myself to bite into her flesh just yet. I want to know why she is encouraging me, not begging for her life.
“Kill me,” she repeats.
“Why are you giving into me?” I ask, my voice coming out husky and deep.
“I want this,” she murmurs.
I press my lips to her neck and sigh against her skin. I desperately need to suck out the liquid running hot and fast through her veins, but I want to know more about her. Why is her heart so fearless?
A/N This is your first peek at my new story called Pulse, so I really hope you are keen to keep reading from now on. I promise it will only get better from here. I have some very intense scenes planed that will either have your heart racing in fear or from your wild hormones ;)
SPOILER ALERT! Yes the vamp and the chick are going to get together. But it’s not like those typical fictions where the guy changes for the girl and converts to animal blood. The protagonist in this story is too dark and badass for that!
So prepare yourself guys! Oh and yes he is super hot!
