"Hey, can I get two caramel macchiatos please?" I ask the girl behind the Starbucks counter.
"Sure thing, that'll be £5.40 then please," she smiles.
She's pretty - long, dark hair past her shoulders, dark eye makeup and black bold-rimmed glasses.
I give her the money and smile back, moving along the counter to get our drinks.
I turn around and scan the room for Dan - it's become a tradition that each time we get Starbucks, we play some sort of terrible, made up game. Today's game was, apparently, spot the Dan.
It is crowded with people sitting at tables and talking over sandwiches and mugs of hot drink, but its not hard to see the one I'm looking for. He's at least a foot taller than everyone else in here. His head is ducked and he appears to be playing Temple Run, although I can see straight through his attempt at remaining hidden. I smirk and walk over to the little corner booth that seems to have taken his fancy. Sliding the drinks across the table, I walk round to the side opposite Dan and sit down.
He looks up from his phone with a smirk to match mine and a wink to go with it.
"Thanks Envy," he says, taking his mug.
"S'alright," I tell him. "You look tired."
"I am, I haven't slept in 39 hours," Dan explains, sighing contentedly as he takes a sip of his coffee.
My eyes grow wide and my jaw drops in surprise, "What? Why?!" I ask, astonished.
"Eh, filming and editing," he shrugs.
I nod in understanding and wrap my hands around the mug, enjoying the warmth radiating from it.
"So, what do you wanna do after this?" Dan asks.
"I think you should get some sleep!" I laugh, stabbing his arm with my finger.
"Yeah, maybe," he says, "I like hanging out with you though, and it feels like its been ages!"
The butterflies come fluttering back when he says that, and I still can't work out why.
I smile and look down at the table, trying to ignore them.
"Well, maybe we could watch a movie or something? I have Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy!" I suggest.
Dan nods while taking a gulp of caramel flavoured coffee and sticks his thumb up. "Sounds good to me."

I yawn and bring my knees up onto the sofa, curling them to the side of me and resting my head on the back of the coach.
We're half way through Shaun Of The Dead and I'm almost asleep.
Something presses against my leg and I look down to see Dan almost mirroring my position, but with his head on my knees. A huge smile finds its way on to my face at the sight of Dan's slightly wavy hobbit hair and closed eyes. I ruffle the small mess of hair on his head and lean my head back against the couch again, the smile never leaving my face.
I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open. I start to daydream, and before I know it the end credits are rolling.
I gently shake Dan's shoulders and smirk as his eyes open sleepily and he looks around, confused.
"Did I fall asleep...?" He mutters.
"Yes, on me!" I tell him, mocking offense.
He laughs and once again the butterflies come swooping back at the adorable sound of his deep, sleepy voice.
I smile with him and he pushes himself up, stretching his arms above his head.
"Attractive," I say, winking at his sarcastic expression.
"I know, I know," he winks back. "Hey, what time is it?"
"Uh, twenty to six," I tell him, checking my watch.
He groans, throwing his head back. "I better get going and finish that video," he tells me with an apologetic smile.
"Is there anything you need help with?" I offer.
"No its okay thanks En, but thankyou for offering." He says around a yawn.
I smile as he stretches again, shoving my hands into my pockets.
"Well, thanks for having me again," he says, wrapping his arms around me.
"Its alright, I had fun. Come over any time you want," I tell him, trying desperately to control the shaking in my voice caused by the enormous amount of butterflies in my stomach.
"Thanks En," he laughs, completely oblivious.
He lets go and puts his hands in his hoodie pockets, and starts walking towards my front door. He pulls it open and turns to give me a little wave. I stand casually against the wall and wave back, pulling a stupid face and laughing as he makes one back.
"Bye Dan," I chuckle, turning away as the door closes.
I wander through my apartment aimlessly, looking in cupboards and draws for no reason other than boredom. Eventually, I end up in my art room. The big canvas I started painting on a few weeks ago is still propped up against the wall, and I smile at its emptiness. The only thing on it is a small coffee cup in the bottom left corner.
I grab some paints and some brushes and throw myself down in front on the canvas, still smiling at my idea. Different thoughts and day dreams flow through my head as I paint, giving me inspiration and sparking new ideas.
A few hours later and what was an almost blank canvas is now one of the most colourful paintings in the room, and its not finished yet. Not even close.
Spurting from the coffee cup is a rainbow. Along the thick, brightly coloured lines are small objects, crammed quite closely together. There's a video game controller, a small gun, a glass of strawberry milk, and a boy who incidentally resembles Dan giving a girl (who incidentally resembles me) a piggy back.
A huge grin finds its way on to my face.
It's a timeline of a friendship just begun, hopefully to last a long while - and I'm going to paint it all.
