Jennie walked back to the table, still replaying her conversation with Taehyung. She had seen the way his expression had shifted—confusion, hesitation, realization. He was piecing things together, things that should have been obvious to him a long time ago.

She sighed, shaking her head as she approached Jungkook, who was grinning at something Jisoo had said just a few minutes ago. But as she scanned the group, her brows furrowed.

"Where's Jisoo?" she asked.

Jungkook barely glanced up, waving a hand lazily. "Oh, she just left a minute ago. Said she was going to the bathroom."

Jennie's stomach dropped.

Of course.

She didn't even need to ask why. She already knew.

Jisoo had put on a strong face, smiling, laughing, talking, pretending to be okay. But she wasn't. Jennie knew her too well for that.

A moment later, Jisoo returned, wiping her damp hands on a napkin. Her eyes were slightly red, barely noticeable under the dim lights, but Jennie caught it.

Jungkook, ever the observant one, frowned. "Are you okay?"

Jisoo forced a small smile. "Yeah. Just... I think I've had enough to drink for tonight." She sat down, picking up a glass of water instead.

Jennie clenched her jaw. It hurt, knowing that Jisoo had carried this weight alone all these years. And the worst part? Jennie had been too caught up in her own life to see it.

She exhaled sharply and turned toward her, wanting to talk, to say something—anything—but then she stopped herself. Maybe now wasn't the time. Jisoo needed space, not someone pushing her into a conversation she wasn't ready for.

Instead, Jennie turned back, her gaze landing on Taehyung.

He had just returned to his seat, swirling his drink absentmindedly, completely lost in thought.

And then—

His entire posture stiffened..

Taehyung's POV

Something felt off.
He didn't know what, exactly. He just knew.
His grip tightened around his glass as he replayed the past. For the first time tonight, the alcohol wasn't the thing making his head spin—it was his own damn feelings.

What the hell was happening to him?
His eyes flickered toward the hallway where Jisoo had disappeared just moments ago. His fingers twitched with the urge to go after her, but... for what?

What was he even feeling right now?

Was it guilt? Was it regret? Was it the sudden emptiness he felt when she wasn't around?

His mind played cruel tricks on him, rewinding every moment from their past.

He had always liked being around Jisoo—always felt lighter in her presence. He had admired her, relied on her, trusted her in ways he never really questioned before. And then, when she pulled away, when she stopped talking to him, when she disappeared from his life...

He had missed her.

Not in the way you miss an old classmate or a casual friend.

He distracted himself. With work, with training, with other people. He had blamed it on life, told himself people grow apart. But the truth was—he never stopped noticing her absence.

And now that she was here again, sitting just a few feet away, laughing with Jungkook, looking so effortlessly beautiful, so naturally herself
