A Love-Drunk Memory

Chapter 16

Kellin's P.O.V.

I walk over to Mike and Tony who were standing a few feet from my car. "Hey guys," I smile as I stop in front of them. "Hey Kellin," Mike smiles. They lead me over to the bonfire and I see that all of my friends are here plus a few others. I think I even see Dr. Merrick. I go over to the cooler and grab a water before turning and bumping into someone. I almost fall but their arms reach out and catch me in time. "Sorry," we both say at the same time. I laugh and look up, freezing when their eyes lock with mine.

"Kellin?" Vic asks as we let go of each other. "Vic," I nod. "What are you doing here?" he asks. "Uh, Mike invited me," I shrug. "Oh," he says. "Is Danielle here?" I ask, stepping away from him. "No. We broke up because she cheated on me. Again," he informs me, taking a step closer. "O-oh," I stutter as he closes the distance between us. I look up into his eyes, my breath hitching as he leans closer. His breath flutters across my lips, making me swallow hard.

He leans in and connects our lips. I don't kiss back even though I really wanted to. He pulls away with a worried expression. "Fûck, I'm so sorry. I don't know why came over me. Shít, I didn't mean to do that," he shakes his head, stepping away from me. "It's, uh, fine," I say as I turn to walk away. "Kellin, wait. I just, I want you to know that I'm sorry. For cheating on you. I don't know why I did. It's a shítty feeling that you get when you find out someone cheated on you. I'm sorry," he says, voice cracking a little. "Just know that the feeling is more than shítty when you love that person," I tell him, staring into his eyes before walking away.

I walk over to where Jack and Alex were talking to buff guy. He had little hair on his head and wore a huge smile. "Hey Kellbell," Jack greets me. Alex and the other guy were in the middle of a converstion. "Hey Jack," I smile at him. "How's the little one doing?" he asks, patting my stomach. "Great. Next time I go I get to know if they're a boy or girl," I grin. "That's great," he smiles. "Yeah, I can't wait," I smile. "Can't wait for what?" Alex asks. "To find out the gender if my baby," I smile. "How far along are you?" the guy that Alex was talking to asks.

"Four months," I smile. "Cool, my boyfriend is a doctor and he loves when a patient is pregnant. Just the way they light up whenever they're there. He says one just smile all through their appointment. Makes his day better," he laughs. I laugh with him and tilt my head to the side. "I'm sorry, I didn't get your name," I smile. "Oh, I'm Rian Dawson, an you are?" he sticks out his hand. "Kellin Quinn," I shake his hand. We all talk for a little bit until a figure comes up behind Rian and wraps his arms around his waist.

"Hey babe," the guys says. He sounds familiar so I turn my attention to him. My eyes widen a little when I see that it's Dr. Merrick. "Oh, hey Kellin," Dr. Merrick smiles. "Hey Dr. Merrick," I grin. "Wait, my boyfriend is your doctor?" Rian asks. "Yup, I didn't even know he had a boyfriend," I grin. "Damn, it's a small world," Alex grins. "It's a small world after all! It's a small world after all!" Jack screeches. I giggle as Alex smacks his hand over Jack's mouth. Jack stops with a mischievous gleam in his eyes.

"Ew!" Alex yells, taking his hand away from Jack's mouth and wiping it on Jack's shirt. "What's wrong Alex?" Jack smirks. "You licked my hand you aśśhole!" Alex exclaims, thunking Jack in the head. "Ow you aśśhat!" Jack exclaims, rubbing the back of his head. "That's what you get for licking my hand!" Alex grins. Jack tackles him to the ground and I shake my head in amusement at the two.

I feel a hand in my shoulder and look to see who it is. "Vic?" I ask and he smiles awkwardly at me. "Hey, can I talk to you for a moment?" he asks. "Uh," I trail off. "Please, it will only take a minute," he pleads. I close my eyes and rub the bridge of my nose. "Fine," I sigh. He leads me away to where we are in the shadows of the bonfire.

"Kellin, I'm so sorry for the pain I have caused you. I was an aśśhole and really don't know why I cheated on you with that bítch Danielle. Could I please have another chance?" he asks. Warning signs go off in my head. But my heart craved his touch. I sigh and stare into his eyes, searching for any signs of deceit. I didn't find any but I still didn't trust him.

"Look, we can't start where we left off. As of right now, I am only going to tolerate you. One wrong thing and you can kiss me and the baby goodbye. We are acquaintances, nothing more, nothing less. My trust for you is very low at the moment, got that?" I ask and he nods his head. "Good, now I'm going to go hang out with my friends," I turn on my heel and walk over to where Gabe and Justin were, not once looking back.

I groan as I lay down in my bed. I just got back from the bonfire and it was 11:57. I was worn out and just wanted to sleep. I stare at the ceiling as my mind wanders to Vic. After I talked to him, I ignored him for the rest of the night. I could feel his gaze burning into me as I fluttered from person to person. I never once looked at him even though I really wanted to.

I sit up and decide to take a shower. I set out my nightclothes and go into my bathroom, turning on the shower. I strip as I wait for the water to warm, brushing my teeth. I finish brushing my teeth and step into the hot shower. I lazily clean up before stepping out and drying off. I hang up the towel and walk into my room, slipping on my boxer briefs and large nightshirt that was getting a little tight.

I plug in my phone before turning off my light and getting under my covers. I lay down on my left side, my hand rubbing circles on my stomach. My eyes start to droop and my breaths become deep and even. My eyes flutter shut and I drift off to sleep.
