Vader found comfort in his dreams, after years of battling his nightmares and the terrors which awaited him when his eyes closed, he never expected to find solace and peace in such things. He yawned sleep, the fine line where fantasy and memory met- for a few singular moments she felt real, her voice and touch, embrace. Odessa Tove may have been dead but she found Anakin Skywalker in his dreams every time, a relief to the darkness of his days and the harshness of his reality.
"You look sad my love." Her voice still was as soft as it always had been, a soothing tone which touched every nerve of his body "What's bothering you?"
She never aged in his dreams, her eyes were youthful and bright and her beauty never faltered. She was frozen in time, her hair spreading towards his chest as she run circles on it with her index finger, a playful smirk on her lips and her eyes engaging and large. But the art of his mind could only be so accurate, and there was parts of his Odessa that could never be replicated.
"What isn't?" He muttered, Anakin focused rather on her features, rubbing her waist with his palm.
Odessa scoffed "You have so much to live for Anakin- we both do."
"Not anymore." Some nights she would scream at him, cry, thrash out. But on the rare occasion she acted like nothing ever happened, like she wasn't dead and he hadn't been the cause of it "I was selfish Odessa."
There was a certainty in her eyes, it deepened the pain in his chest further but the way she pushed her body up closer to his was comforting. Sometimes he wished she was angry at him, his presence and love was undeserving but he was selfish enough to also be thankful "Everyone has the tendency to be selfish sometimes Ani. What matters is how far you're willing to repent for those actions."
She laughed, swinging her body up so she sat on top of his, kissing his chest and up to his neck "So tell me baby, how bad was it?"
His jaw tightened "Worst than you could ever imagine."
"And what did it cost you?" She pecked his lips, anakin deepening the kiss as he pulled her to lay back down on the comfort of their bed.
He sighed, kissing the crown of her head whilst he stared out onto their bedroom. That room held memories he could never gain back, it was devastating to think one day they had both left it alone and simple never came back. How could you repent for your actions when you had lost everything, and the person you betrayed had slipped through your fingers. Anakin wished he had the chance of salvation, but that was now long gone.
