Jude wasn't excited to be back at school. In fact she was so discouraged about break being over that she sat in the bathroom during first period to mentally prepare herself for the exams ahead. She did this very few times, but when she did, she sat in a stall and sat on her phone until she felt that she needed to go back to class.

This time, she was in the right place at the right time. Two girls walked into the bathroom just as the conversation started.

"I completely forgot to tell you, while you were away some things happened!" The girls voice echoed almost too loudly, giving Jude a head ache. It was too early for her annoying voice. "Harry Styles has a thing for someone!"

"Harry Styles?" the other girl asked.

"With Jude Thomas," the first girl responded.

"Really?" The girl said in disbelief. "I mean I'm not surprised. She's gorgeous and shes sporty too. They could be the power couple of the year."

"And the whole school knows now. Everyone is talking about it. Everyone wants them to be together."

Jude felt sick. She tried not to make any movement in fear that they would hear her. How did things get this far? She wondered. How does everyone even know? What does Harry think of all of this? As soon as the girls left, Jude moved out of the stall, almost feeling dizzy. She looked into the mirror and sighed.

She liked Luke. If she had to chose someone she wanted to be with she would pick Luke. How was she going to get out of a mess like this? How would she tell Harry that she really doesn't like him and that it was all fake? Everyone would think of her as a bitch or a player. Jude just needed to get out of this school.

She pushed the bathroom door opened and as soon as she got passed the door, she slammed into someone, making them drop a few books they had. She looked to see Luke standing there. She blushed for no reason, wondering if he knew too.

"In a hurry?" he smirked as he picked up his books.

"Yeah," she sighed.

"What's wrong." Luke saw right away that something was off. She was surprised there was no snarky remark out of him.

"I feel like I'm suffocating." Jude couldn't stop looking anywhere and everywhere. Her mind raced. Not to mention the fact that Luke doesn't know what she knows.

"I heard the big news," Luke raised his eyebrows. She noticed his discomfort on the subject and felt sort of flattered that Luke would be jealous over her. Spending the last month with each other really changed them.

Jude just rolled her eyes. "It's not really anyone else's business. It's quite annoying."

"Wanna get outta here?" Luke asked with a hopeful tone.

Jude smiled and looked up at him with shining eyes. "Let go," was all she said.

Jude drove into the city with Luke in the passenger seat. Luke played music that Jude sang along to and the talked about all the different types of songs they liked. When they finally reached the city, they had no destination to reach. They were simply just driving. It was the first time they had actually hung out alone and just talked like normal friends. No bickering. No fighting. It was nice for a change.

"What should we do now that we're here?" Jude asked.

"Let's go ice skating," Luke smiled. "Someone told me about the outdoor skating pond around here."

"I mean, why not?" Jude giggled. They moved to the center of the city where there were business buildings everywhere, reminding Jude of Manhattan. Their city wasn't as extraordinary as the city on the East Coast, but it was still great compared to the small town where Jude was raised.

They got their skates and laced up. Soon they were on the ice with few other people. It was not crowded at all. They were two of eight people on the rink.

The whole time they just talked. It was the first time they got to know each other properly; what their favorite food was, if they were breakfast people, If they liked coffee or tea, what they saw in themselves for the future, what they wanted to be as children. The list went on as the day went on. They talked about anything and everything because they noticed for the first time that they were comfortable around each other. They weren't afraid to be themselves because they finally noticed that they were the same person. They understood each other a lot better than they once thought.

"So," Luke cleared his throat as the conversation died down. "You and Harry..."

Jude let out a small chuckle but kept her eye on the ice.

"I can tell you don't seem to be the type to be the center of attention." Luke's voice was genuine as he spoke, making Jude a little less uneasy.

"How does the whole school know?" Jude wondered aloud. "I mean, we haven't even gone on a real date yet! How is that possible!"

"It's a small town," Luke reminded her. "I learned that as soon as I got here. Word got around that there was someone new in the school before I even stepped on to campus."

"You're right," she huffed. "I mean, what if it turns out I don't like Harry as much as I thought I did?"

"What makes you say that?" Luke's sounded more full of hope than before. It almost made Jude feel sad.

"Just a thought," she shrugged. "I mean this is the first time I've ever been close to a relationship. I don't know exactly what I want at the moment. I'm still young."

"Oh yeah, you've never dated anyone," Luke smirked.

"Ashton is such a jerk," Jude laughed. "You definitely weren't supposed to know that."

"I never said it was a bad thing," Luke assured her.

"I guess it's not," Jude agreed. "I just hate being new at things."

"I get it."

"What am I going to do about this Harry thing?" Jude's voice sounded more desperate than ever at this point.

"I'm still a bit confused as to why this is a bad thing?" He asked.

"Because everyone is so hyped up on the two of us and I don't even know if we're going to last on a first date."

"Is this because you think you're going to mess things up?" Luke asked. Jude wasn't sure if she liked how deep into the conversation they were getting. She couldn't tell what her feelings were right now. So many things ran through her head. "Jude, you are actually a really cool girl. Any guy would be lucky to have you."

"Thanks Luke," Jude smiled.

"If you ever tell anyone I got this mushy, I think I'll have to kill you," Luke threatened.

"Not if I kill you first," Jude smirked. She really liked this side of Luke. She wasn't sure how long it would last but she took what she got. Not only did she think it was sweet that he was so nice about everything but he also thought Jude was beautiful.
