Missing practice was such a strange thing to Jude. She hated being sick more than anything. She also hated not being able to play hockey. Luke stayed one night and took care of Jude the next day, but he had to go back to school. That left Jude alone for half the day.She sat in the basement and pushed her way through Netflix, even though she was never a TV person. When she was, she could only handle a bit at once.
She also hated that she couldn't see Luke as much as she wanted. It seemed that when she wasn't at school, he seemed to get into more trouble than usual. That meant that he would get in-house detention or detention after school. It gave Jude less time to spend with him. Luckily, she had her other friends to keep her company.
Ashton and Setha finally came over after school, bringing her soup and kept her company. She was happy that she was finally gaining an appetite for something other than crackers. She opened the cup of broccoli cheddar soup and smiled.
"You guys are the best," She smiled. Setha and Ashton sat side by side on the other side of the bar to the kitchen.
"I know," Setha shrugged. Jude paid no mind to the sass and sipped on her soup. Soon, Luke walked into the house and shut the door harder than anyone happy.
"What's your issue?" Ashton chuckled.
"Mr. Hill is an asshole," Luke sat down aggressively. He huffed and put his hand on his chin. After a second of silence he turned to Jude and his expression changed. "How are you feeling?"
"Better?" She was unsure, really.
"That's good," He smiled.
"Hey, we should go on a double date soon!" Setha suggested.
"Jude and I haven't even gone on a real date," Luke chuckled.
"True," Jude said with soup in her mouth.
"So?" Ashton asked.
"I do not want my first date to be with you," Jude joked. Ashton stuck his tongue out and Jude smiled a bit.
"I'm up for it, but I'd like to go on just a normal date before we go with you guys," Luke nodded. "If you're okay with that?"
"No, that's a terrible idea," Jude looked at him with a straight face. She hadn't really been sassy since she got sick, so it was all pouring out now.
"So we'll let you guys know when we've gone out," Luke looked back at Setha and Ashton.
"It's kind of scary how perfect you two are for each other," Setha giggled.
Jude blushed a bit. Luke smiled and looked at her. He grabbed her hand which was on the counter.
"I took the history exam today.. I actually knew more than half of the questions, no thanks to you," Luke explained. "But I need help with my English homework."
"Ew, fine," Jude huffed.
After doing work for an hour or so in the basement, Jude and Luke sat on the couch and talked.
"The worst part of you being sick is that I can't kiss you," Luke huffed. "in fact, I feel like I'm too close to you right now."
"Probably, but at least it's for a good cause!"
"What cause?" Luke looked confused.
"My sanity," Jude smirked.
"But you're not sane..." Luke joked.
Jude grabbed a pillow and hit him with it.
"I have to work tomorrow and you're not gonna be there, huh?" Luke asked.
"There's no way I'm gonna stand in the cold," Jude shook her head.
"You should come in anyways," he suggested.
"I do want a pop tart," she sighed. "Maybe I will. I have to leave the house sometime. Has coach said anything about me being gone? I did text him.."
"Coach hasn't even been there," Luke chuckled.
"What else is new," she rolled her eyes.
"When you get better, we should go skate after hours," Luke smirked.
"That sounds fun," she smiled. "Will it be a date?"
"If you want, but I was thinking something better than that," he explained.
"Are you going to tell me or are you going to make it a surprise?" Jude asked.
"Ew, gross," Luke rolled his eyes. "I'll tell you once I've thought of something better."
"Okay," Jude giggled. "Sounds good."
