Chapter 21 - DèJa Vù
This one time when I was five, my mum came into my room while I was reading. She told me something, which resulted me falling off my chair in shock. What she told me, was that I was going to see Michael Bùble live; my man crush. I honestly felt so shocked, I wanted to cry, it was that emotional.
What I felt like then - shocked, is how I felt the minute I saw Erin waiting there patiently, as if she was expecting me.
But when she looked up, her expression told me the complete opposite. She was defiantly not expecting me. But, she must have expected a date, judging by how nice and perfect her hair looked (as if it had been done by proffesionals) and also by the beautiful purple dress she was wearing.
The thought of her bothering to dress nicely for a date with someone else hurt, but then I remembered I was the one she was on the date with, and that made me smile.
"Niall?" Her voice came out almost like an aggressive whisper.
"Don't look so angry, I didn't know you would be here either." I said, putting my hands up in defense.
She sighed. "On you go, sit down then, we might as well eat something after Liam paying for all this."
I grinned. Oh I was defiantly going to eat something. You can't leave nandos without at least having a plate of peri peri chicken?! You just can't. It's like commiting a crime.
I sat down in the seat opposite her, and took an appreceated glance around. The setting was like a set for a romantic movie, with the lights off, and candles burning. A rose stood in a vase of water in the middle of the table, and you could smell the scents that had been placed around the room. If Erin hadn't been so mad at me, this would be the perfect date. Liam really was a romantic guy.
"It's beautiful, Isn't it." She sighed.
I looked at her, and admired her natural features. "Sure is."
She blushd when she realised I wasn't talking about the scene, and looked down at her knees. I was tempted to lift her chin with my fingers and get lost in her eyes, but I thought maybe that would be the wrong move. If she was my girlfriend then -... I cursed myself for even thinking about that. Erin made it clear she didn't want another boyfriend, for now anyways. I would have to control my feelings, which is something I have never been good at.
"So, why do you think they did this?" I asked, causing Erin to look up, a cute blush still playing on her cheeks.
"Er, ain't it obvious?"
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Not really." I admitted.
She rolled her eyes. "God Horan, you're so gullibe."
"Tell me something I don't know?" I said, the lyrics to Selena Gomez playing in my head.
"They set us up."
"Meaning?"
"They want us to get together.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
There was an awkward silence after that. So the boys had set us up. They really thought that would work? I doubt it boys, I really doubt it. I couldn't deny how much I wish it would work though. I'm not going to deny that I have a huge crush on the girl sitting in front of me, because I do, and she has a crush on me. So why aren't we together? Because she doesn't trust me.
"You know, I'm having a hint of dèja vù." Erin says.
I raise my eyebrows. "You are?"
"Yeah." She nods. "First off, we both get letters, like how I sent you that first letter a while ago, remember that?"
