Chapter 30 - Alexa

I felt out of place. I looked out of place. Screw that, I was out of place. And people staring wasn't helping my situation one bit.

As I followed Liam to wherever he was taking me, the stares came with. It wasn't until we walked for a few minutes I realised why. The way we were dressed.

While I was all fancy and formal, Liam was casual and had the: I've just fallen out of bed look. I looked like I was on my way to a ball or dinner, while Liam looked like he was on the way to the skate park. No wonder people were staring, as rude as it was.

"Liam, I don't like this." I angrily whispered.

He chuckled and shot me an: are you serious, look. "You're hanging out with Liam Payne babe, get used to it."

I mentally face palmed myself. Of course. That was the main reason people were staring.

"But why hasn't anyone -" A loud, high pitched, girly scream cut my words.

"Oh my god! It's Liam from One Direction!" I rolled my eyes as a group of teenage girls gathered around us and started speaking to Liam. Poor Liam looked lost. There were so many voices speaking, he couldn't listen to even one of the girls.

"Spoke too soon." I mumbled to myself.

Liam told the girls he was in a rush, but being the caring, sweet, fan lover he is, he agreed to taking some pictures and signing some papers. It was crazy how much the girls swooned over Liam, and crazy to think I used to be like that. It's obvious all these girls were Liam girls from they way they shouted facts about him even Liam himself had forgotten about. Hey, I'm a directioner. I recognize these things.

After thirty more pictures, and fifty more autographs, Liam announced we had to leave, earing a dozen on whines and pouts from the fans. One girl even burst into tears, complaining that she didn't even get a picture. I felt my heart dip for the poor girl. Liam must have felt the same, because he agreed to staying for five more minutes.

I huffed, knowing he would be longer than that, and sat down on a bench by the fountain where the queue to Liam was forming. I blocked out the noises of the screaming girls, and took out my phone and ear phones. I plugged them in, then put them in my ears. I scrolled through the number of songs on my phone. I ended on choosing to listen to The Band Perry. I was in a country mood. I sat back, the sun shining on my face as the song "Better dig two" started playing.

A minute and a half into the song, I felt a small finger prodding my tanned arm. Confused, I paused the song. I looked up to see a petite girl staring down at me with big teary green eyes. A tear rolled down her cheek, making me feel my heart dip in pity for the girl. She couldn't have been older than five.

"Hello, can I help you?" I asked softly. I felt the urge to rub her shoulder or back for comfort, but I was afraid her mum was nearby and think the worst of it.

"I - I lost my mummy." She sobbed into her small hands.

I gasped, my hand flying over my circled lips. "Aw no, when and where did you last see her?" I asked, this time placing my hand on her shoulder and sitting her down next to me.

"Like a few minutes ago." She took her hands away from her face so I could see her tear-stained cheeks. "We were shopping. I was looking for something I wanted for my birthday. I found a doll I liked. I turned around to tell her I saw something, but she was gone."

I layed my hand on her beautiful blonde locks, and combed her hair through my fingers. "And which shop was it? Can you remember?"

She pointed over to a shop close by. I followed her finger.
