Chapter 4 - Promise

"YOU, YOU BITCH!" I winced as she kept bawling.

What was her problem? She looked as if someone had just stolen her future husband off her..

Then I realised.. I had. I had stolen her future 'husband'. Back in those days, when we where the best of friends. she told me. She told me everything. How she was going to meet him at a concert. How it would be love at first sight. How their first date would be at nandos. How they would move in together in London. How he would propose to her.. she even told me what she would name their kids!

And now, I had taken that away from her. I nearly felt her pain.

Niall and Bailey both gave me a confused look. Niall, because he was obviously confused why this random girl was here crying and calling me a bitch, and Bailey, because I was standing outside Starbucks, with Niall Horan. And he had kissed my cheek too. Woah a lot had just happened.

Just then, Rebecca pounced on Niall. Like litterly, pounced.

Her legs went straight around his small waist, and her arms flung around his neck.

Her eyes, where dangerous.

She licked her lips. He looked horrified. I had to move.

So I did. I sprung forword, and push her off him.

"Get. Away. From. Us." I growled as soon as she made contact with the ground.

"Or what?" She sneered, standing up, and rubbing stones off her skirt.

"Or.." I was lost. This was the first time I had ever stood up against her. And I was lost.

"Or I'll tell my manager." Niall spoke up, placing his hand on my shoulder.

Rebecca's face, paled. She was as white, as a blank piece of paper. I had never seen her so scared in her life.

"I- I'll leave then." She said through gritted teath.

She gave me one last glare, before turning around, and linking arms with Bailey.

Before Bailey turned around and stomped away though, she gave me a look. A look of dissapointment. Oh, so now she's dissapointed in me. As if I care..

The worst thing is though, I did.

"Who.. who was that?" Niall mumbled, kicking his feet against the kurb.

"Rebecca." I frowned.

"Was she one of the girls who bullies you?" He asked, his voice turning cold.

"Y-yes. She's the one who does most of it." I said, not bothering to deny it.

Even though I wasn't looking at him, I could tell he was tensing up, and his breath started sounding uneasily and frustrated.

"Erin..." He said quietly. I looked up.

"Yeah?"

"Next time.. if she says anything to hurt you, or does anything to hurt you, could you please tell me?"

There was a moment of silence. I was staring into those stunning blue eyes, and I just couldn't look away. It was like being put under a spell. Like being in a trance.

"Do you promise?" He asked.

I frowned, and nodded. "Yeah, I promise."

He smiled sofltly, relaxing again. "Good."

"I better go now." I announced.

"Same." He mumbled.

Everything had turned so awkward since the Rebecca accident.

"Bye then," I smiled weakily.

He returned it, and once again, kissed my cheek.

"Bye, stay strong." He whispered, taking my hand and squeezing it.

As clichè as it sounds, it felt like sparks where flying when his warm hand touched mine.

"Oh.. and if you need anything.. Im always here." Then he was gone. Just like that.

-------------------

I walked into the house at 5:56pm. Four minutes before mum would be returning.

I ran upstairs, and bumped into someone. I froze. Bumped into someone? But I was supposed to be home alone?....

"Jake!" I put a hand over my heart, and took deep, sharp breaths.

"You scared the light out of me!" I cried dramaticially.

"Nice to see you too sissy!" He laughed, patting my back.

I rolled my eyes, and crossed my arms across my chest, acting like a drama queen.

"I thought you where going to be with Derek and Greg for a few days?" I asked.

"Yeah.. but Hannah called.. she's coming here for the night!" He grinned.

Hannah.. his girlfriend.. she wasn't the nicest person on this planet..

"Erin? You okay? You've gone.. white?" Jake asked worriedly.

I nodded, not being able to get words out of my mouth. They got stuck in my throat. I wasn't okay. I felt like I could pass out any minute.

Last time Hannah came, it was one of the worst days of my life.

I would never forget it. The scars wouldn't let me.

*Flashback*

"I'll be back in an hour! Hannah will look after you! Won't you babe?" Jake looked down at the fifteen year old me, and smiled. I grinned, and looked at Hannah.

She smiled back at me. That fake, sickly, sweet-like smile. At that time, I thought she meant it.

"Of course I will!" She beamed, kissing her boyfriend for a second.

"Bye" he said, kissing my cheek, then he left. He left me with that witch.

"So Erin!" She smirked, the minute he shut the door.

"Yeah?" I was a bit take aback by her smirk. But I decieded it was nothing, and shrugged it off.

"I have something to show you."

I followed her upstairs, and into Jake's bedroom, where she was currently staying.

She left me standing and watching at the doorway, and went towords one of the drawers.

The, she pulled it out. She pulled out a razor. My eyes went wide. She wasn't..

She smirked. "Come over here babe." She growled.

I hesitated, but did it anyway. I was stupid. I went over to her. Even though I knew I shouldn't.
