The classroom was silent, besides our heavy breathing. Suddenly the door slammed open and the sound of sharp heels echoed behind me. Jess.

"Johnny!" She called out his name, feigning shock. "What happened to you?" She looked at me, smirking. "Oh..was it because of her?" She held his face in her hands. "Was she the one who made my darling like this? Oh she will pay!" She snarled, smiling maliciously, turning on me. "Finally, my revenge that started from two years ago! I will finally finish you!" She grabbed an empty chair and swung it, preparing to hit me. "You are nothing but dirty trash," she whispered. She threw the chair at me and I tried to scramble away, my eyes wide with fear. A black figure appeared next to Jess and caught the chair, right as it was about to hit me. Hansol!

"You stupid boy, what are you doing? Who are you to interrupt with what I do?" Jess glared at him, breathing angrily.

"You have no right to be doing this," he said quietly, staring at her furiously.

"Hah, you think that your cute looks will be enough for you? You think that you can sway me?" Jess laughed haughtily. "Your looks don't measure to Johnny's. Go away!" She was about to slap his face, but he darted away before she managed to hit him.

In the meantime, I had stood up and walked further away from the scene unraveling before me. Hansol darted away, coming towards me. "Mari," he said.

No, no, no! I had experienced too much drama today. I turned away, aiming for the exit when he grabbed my hand and dragged me outside the classroom. He had such a tight grip! I struggled to pull my hand out of his grasp when he suddenly stopped and turned to face me. Strands of dark hair fell down the sides of my face, falling out of my bun.

"Mari." Hansol's voice was quiet, as always. "Why did you do that?"

"Do what?" My voice was quiet, without any emotion.

"Why did you break up with Johnny? You two were very happy together, were you not satisfied?"

"You don't understand. I never liked or loved Johnny. I was never infatuated or in love with him."

"Then why have you been dating him for two years?"

"Because," I faltered, my voice becoming faint. "Because I thought he would get hurt if I told him the truth."

"Then why did you break up with him now?"

"I had a dream," I stated.

"You had a dream." His voice was sarcastic but without humor.

"And yesterday he asked me to prom." Hansol didn't respond so I continued to talk. "And I just felt bad. What if he could be asking another girl who truly loved him back? I felt like I was stripping him of his real life."

"You just figured that out now?" His voice was deathly quiet and serious.

"No..." I had figured that out ever since I had first started dating Johnny.

"Then why did you break up with him now?" He repeated his original question, demanding the actual truth.

"Because of you! Is that better? Will you stop asking me the stupid questions? It was because of you!"
