~ Time skip to night ~

It’s late at night. Mahesh is sitting in the living room, watching TV, though his focus isn’t really on the screen. The house is quiet, everyone else has gone to their rooms. Sam stands near the hallway, hesitating. Taking a deep breath, she walks toward him.

Sam (excited but hesitant): Mahesh… I have something to tell you. The clients loved my designs! They even offered me—

Mahesh (without looking at her, voice cold): Stop it, Sam

Mahesh (without looking at her, voice cold): Stop it, Sam.

Sam’s excitement fades instantly. She blinks, confused by his tone.

Mahesh finally turned to her, his eyes unreadable.

Mahesh: When you were sad and frustrated, you didn’t want to talk to me. You pushed me away like I didn’t matter. But now that you’re happy, you come running back, expecting me to listen like nothing happened?

Sam swallows, guilt creeping in. She opens her mouth, but no words come out.

Mahesh exhaled, his tone laced with hurt.
Mahesh: Did you even consider how I felt, Sam? Do my feelings not matter to you?

Sam (softly, looking down): I… I didn’t mean to—

Mahesh (firm): But you did.

He doesn't wait for her response. Without another word, he gets up, switches off the TV, and walks away toward his room. Sam watches him leave, her chest tightening. She knows she deserves this. But that doesn’t make it hurt any less.

Two days have passed. Mahesh still hasn’t spoken to Sam. She tried a few times, but he either avoided her or gave short replies. Wanting to make things better, she decides to cook his favorite—chicken biryani.

Everyone is gathered, enjoying dinner. Sam is quietly watching Mahesh, waiting for his reaction. He takes his first bite, and a flicker of satisfaction crosses his face. He continues eating, making Sam smile softly.

Mahesh (casually): Who made the biryani? Amma? It doesn’t taste like yours.

Ramya (smiling): Sam cooked it.
