Yang Yifei slashed through the beast with practiced precision, its blood splattering onto the grass. His breath came in short bursts, his body tense from the relentless battle. But just as he moved to counter the next attack, his vision blurred.
A strange pull. A shift in his mind.
For a brief moment, he wasn’t here anymore. He was there.
The goddess’s realm.
And Ling Song…
His body jerked back into reality, just in time to dodge a claw swiping dangerously close to his chest. He staggered, his focus shattered, his mind still tangled in the vision. His opponent took advantage of the momentary lapse, striking deep into his arm before he could react.
"Tch—" He hissed, stumbling back. The sharp pain barely registered. His thoughts were elsewhere.
Ling Song.
Even through the confusion, the image of him lingered—graceful, poised, completely unlike before. He hadn’t just changed physically. Even the air around him felt different. The way he moved, the way he spoke… there was something captivating about it. Enchanting, even.
He had said Ling Song would still have the mentality of a kid, that despite the transformation, he would still be the same person deep down.
Was he wrong?
"For fuck’s sake." he muttered under his breath, running a hand through his sweat-dampened hair. He tilted his head back, staring at the darkening sky. The sun was already dipping past the horizon—18:00.
This mission was a nightmare. Constant battles, endless exhaustion. And for what? Mere memories?
He exhaled sharply, the frustration settling deep in his bones. There was no time to dwell on this now. He gritted his teeth, ignoring the sting in his injured arm as he swung one leg over his motorbike.
The engine roared to life.
Zombies had started respawning on the other side of the base.
With a sharp turn of the throttle, he sped off into the night.

Zhou Feng, He Kwok, and Chen Xu sat in a car, the engine humming softly as they drove toward the government base. The sun was beginning to dip behind the city skyline, casting long shadows across the road. It was time to get back to business.
"Are you sure you don't want to see Ling Song now that he'll have a normal body?" He Kwok asked from the driver’s seat, glancing at Zhou Feng through the rearview mirror.
"I'm curious, sure… but honestly, I'm more upset that I won't get to see his reaction when he reads the manhwa I gave him." Chen Xu sighed dramatically from the passenger seat.
"Manhwa? What's that?" Zhou Feng frowned, the term unfamiliar to him.
Chen Xu turned to look at him in disbelief. "You really don’t know?"
He shook his head. He never had the time—or interest—for things like that. Growing up, his parents had drilled discipline and expectations into him, filling his time with difficult books and even more difficult responsibilities. Whenever their otaku friend started rambling about anime or comics, he would just walk away.
