After making sure the baby was attended to, Zoe went to search out Assad. It wasn't right. Bella should've recovered by now, yet seemed to be getting worse to burst into Assad's offices to be stopped by a guard.
"I need to talk to his Highness," she begged.
"I am so sorry Miss Zoe, he is indisposed at this time, and cannot be disturbed."
"I must," she insisted hopping from foot to another. "It's important, very important. It's about his wife, your queen. Please," she pleaded.
"Miss Zoe, what is the meaning of this," Kahlil demanded to know behind her. "Assad is far too busy, and you shouldn't be here," he said sounding irritated.
She swung around, practically charged at him, clasping his arms tightly, desperately. "It's Bella Kahlil. Something is wrong, really wrong."
He frowned. "She isn't going to recover overnight Zoe," he said.
She shook her head, because he didn't understand. "She isn't getting better Kahlil, she is getting worse. Please you have to tell Assad," she begged.
"I think you're overreacting Zoe, and you will not disturb Assad." He released himself from her hold to take her arm, walking her out. Desperately she struggled against his hold.
"I'm not!" her voice rising in distress. "It's my Bella, damn you, and she is sick. I'm telling you, she is really sick." Angrily she struck out, hitting his arm. Disbelief crossed his face to pull her away to slam her into a wall, his fingers digging into her arm.
"Enough of your hysterics woman, and so help me, if you ever strike at me again, you would be seen to, do you understand me," he growled with barely controlled anger. "Now go back to your duties, and don't bother us again," he dismissed. Wide-eyed Zoe fled back to Bella's apartment, blinking back tears. She went over to the pale, sleeping Bella, who found it harder and harder to stay awake. Even talking was an effort. She placed her hand on her forehead to touch heat. She was burning up. That was it. Determined she was seeing Assad, because Bella belonged in a hospital.
"What is wrong Zoe?" Assad asked as he entered followed by Kahlil.
"This," she waved a hand at Bella. "She's hard to wake, and now has a temperature. She needs to be in a hospital. I have no idea about things like this. I'm not a nurse, however, I do know when something isn't right." He crossed over to place the back of his hand on his wife forehead, reaching for a phone to call the hospital to tell them they were on their way.
"Zoe get the baby ready with what he needs," Assad ordered as he threw back the bedding to scoop his wife into his arms, and carried her out of the bedroom, heading to the helicopter pad, throwing at Kahlil to help Zoe.
Kahlil walked into the nursery to find the baby in the Bella's personal maid's arms, while Zoe was stuffing a bag with clothes, nappies, and everything else he needed. "Ready?" he asked. She zipped up the back and turned around.
"I think I got it all," she offered. Nodding, he took hold of the bag, and walked out, followed by the two women. Only to have Zoe rush back to grab the baby capsule, used to keep him safe, while travelling. The baby was placed in, then went to join his parents.
Trembling Zoe clutched at Kahlil's arm as they watched the helicopter with Assad, Bella, and baby lift off into the skies, and out of sight. Kahlil glanced down, waiting for the accusation of not taking her seriously, putting Bella's life in danger. She glanced up, and gave a weak smile, released him, and turned to leave. Clutching at her own arms, she headed inside feeling guilty. She knew and should've pushed harder, should've insisted on seeing Assad. He would have listened.
