Bags packed, passport and visa in her purse Zoe was ready to head back for the naming of Bella's baby. Three months had passed since she had left and was so grateful she had Bella's apartment to rely on since she hadn't found a job. Guilt overwhelmed her since they paid for everything. She guessed she could go home but didn't want to, no matter how much she loved her family. She needed to be her own person and looked how well that has turned out. Maybe, after this trip she would stay put in one place, find a job and visit when she could.
Probably a good thing, she wouldn't see so much of Kahlil. How she ached for him. Not once had she ached for Philip. Maybe, because she had slept with Kahlil, no it was more than that. She missed Kahlil when he wasn't around. Never had she felt like that towards Philip. She had liked Philip but loved Kahlil. There she had finally admitted it and that's why she left because she wanted more than he was willing to give. She went to answer the door at a sharp knock. Her taxi driver was here. She opened the door and turned away pointing at her luggage. "Those please."
"When did I become your personal bag carrier Zoe Brown?"
Her heart stilled, eyes widened as she spun around to confront the last person she ever expected to darken her front door. "Kahlil?" she couldn't believe her eyes. He looked so good dressed casually in black pants and v-necked soft grey sweater that highlighted his natural golden colouring and hugged his broad shoulders and chest to fall loosely around his lean hips. Nervously she tucked hair behind her ear. "What are you doing here?" she felt confused. "Um I thought you didn't travel long distances."
"I do travel Zoe," he corrected. "I just don't like leaving for long periods."
"Oh, I was about to leave, and my taxi will be here any minute now," he shook his head stepping in further shutting the door behind him then shoved hands into his pants pockets. "It's not?" she asked stunned.
"No, I sent him packing with a good tip, of course," he added with a cynical curl of his lips. "It seems he rather be paid off then see to your needs Zoe Brown." He looked around the spacious bland main room. "So this used to be Bella's. Not your style at all."
"What would you know about my style?" she asked clutching at her arms though knew it was useless to argue with this man who would walk all over her protests and do as he pleased.
"I know this is too bland to your bright coloured nature. You're all about colour Zoe Brown and always will be." His eyes ran over her jeans and bright red top that didn't hide her womanly figure to rest his gaze on her angelic features and vivid blue eyes. "Do you really think I would let you go back to that stiffed necked bastard," he growled stepping towards her, dark eyes smouldering. "Does he know about us? Does he Zoe!" He pushed. Zoe shook her dark hair and took a step back. He had a presence that overwhelmed her, tears threatening. He stilled at the wariness in her eyes to frown. "You never used to be scared of me; you used to get annoyed and always stood up for yourself. What has happened to you Zoe?"
"You did," she whispered and she got burnt. He stilled and eyes darkened. "What do you want Kahlil?"
"I already told you. You belong to me not this puffed up Brit," he snarled. She blinked as it began to sink in what he was saying.
"What are you talking about Kahlil?" She dug into her handbag to remove the plane ticket to wave at him to be taken and scanned. They were only for Haydar. He swore to rip into pieces and tossed away.
"Kahlil," she complained. "Bella paid for that on the condition I could pay her back. I'm not made of money, actually I have nothing, and all this belongs to Bella and Assad, not me," she wailed in distress.
"I will reimburse them," he stated then went to collect her suitcases. "Come on we are leaving and you're going back home where you belong," he stated as he headed for the front door. Placing one down, he opened the door to hand over the suitcases to a waiting guards.
