Chapter 19- catch me if you can and your a mermaid?

Chapter 19
Madelyns pov

'So you actually went in the water for once.' Alec said when my head came to the surface.

'I love the water. It's my second best place to be.' I said.

'But you've been-'

I splashed a big wave of water on him with my hand. He coughed and rubbed his eyes.

'Madelyn why are your eyes blue?' He said frowning.

'Remember the time when we were at the beach and waves kept tumbling over you out of nowhere?' I asked. Here we go then truth is stumbling out my mouth.

He nodded.

'That was me.' I said dumping another wave on him, making Alec fall into the water with me.

'But how?'

'You'll find out. Catch me if you can.' I said sinking back underwater, I swam fast out to sea and stayed underwater to see if I could see Alec swimming. Since I could breath, I could stay here as long as I can. But it'll freak Alec out.

I came to surface and He was coming near me. I swam back to him.

'H-how do y-you swim so f-fast?' He said puffing.

I smiled then helped him back on the pier. He sat there shivering.

'Aren't you cold? Out of breath?' He asked curiously.

I lent on the pier and crossed over my arms. I didn't know what I was doing but it felt right to tell him and he was getting too curious. And I loved him.

I lifted my long blue tail out the water behind me that glittered in the sunlight. Alec's jaw dropped to no extent and he stared straight at my tail.

'Your a - a- a mermaid?' He managed to get out.

That's when the whole truth, past and fact fell out of my mouth.

'Well it all started with a blue crystal.'

I told him. Alec know that I'm a mermaid. Why I did it? I honestly don't know. I walked down the halls on a Tuesday morning and met my three favourite people.

'Hey!' They said together.

'I told Alec.' I blurted out.

They all stared at me. Then Kate dropped her jaw.

'All of us?' She asked.

'No. Just me.'

'How dos he take it?' Aubry asked.

'Pretty well actually.' I said. They nodded.

After everyone left Kate pulled me aside. I stared at her confused.

'You know the project were doing?' She asked. I nodded.

'the thing is... The teacher ask me if Charity can be in our group. You have to tell her-'

'No way. No. Way.' I said.

'Why?'

'Because she would probably claw my eyes out!' I cried.
'Can you imagine? Hey charity, I know I'm living with your ex-boyfriend and you like him and everything but I think I'm in love with him!
She would eat me alive if-'

I didn't get a chance to explain that situation.

'Your in love with Alec Moore?' Kate demand as her eyes went wide.

Way to go Madelyn.

'No-no.'

'Oh my god I'm going to have a heart attack! I knew it! Anyway I wasn't even talking about that. You needed to tell her that she is working in our group.' Kate explained.

'But holy macaroni cheese! I knew you would go for him! Oh love is-'

I placed my hand over her mouth. This was so embarrassing. I can't believe I just accidentally admitted that to my best friend. Now she'll tell the world.

'Anyway we are going to pick you up after school and go to my house-'

Charity finished off Kate's sentence coming up behind her.

'Then I'll drop you home.' She said with a fake smile.

But what I heard was, "I'm going to pretend to drive you home but then throw your ass over a Clift. You ex-boyfriend stealer."

'Okay.' I swallowed nervously.
'Sure. That's great. Thanks. Yeah.'

I stood there for another minute deciding if I should run to China or risk my life standing in charity death stare.
Running to China sounds like a really good idea at the moment.

But instead the bell saved me.

'How's my blue-tailed girl?' Alec smirked as I walked through the door. I grabbed a muesli bar out the cupboard and sat on the couch.

He sat down next to me turning on the TV.

'Can I get you anything?' Hector appeared.

We shook our heads.

'I can't believe I'm living with a sea creature.' He mumbled for the hundredth time this evening.

'Thanks.' I said with a small smile.

The door rang for the first time today.
I froze knowing that it's charity and Kate waiting outside for me.
