*Dean POV.*

"Sam?" Dean looked around too. He headed for the door. "Sam?!"

"Must be the surge," Ed tutted.

"Where did he go?" Riley asked him, her face a picture of terror.

Dean spotted Sam's flashlight on the ground and picked it up.

"Oh no," Maggie gasped.

But Dean ignored her. He only had eyes for Riley right now. He wasn't going to let her out of his sight, not after Sam's sudden, mysterious disappearance.

"SAM!" He yelled out.

"SAM!" Riley yelled.

"Sammy!" Dean yelled again, this time walking towards the door.

The others were quick to follow him, shouting out for Sam and Corbett as they went, but Dean didn't care who came as long as Riley stuck close to him. As he presumed she would be, Riley was just inches behind him, lighting up doorways and any hidden crevices she could find while calling out for Sam.

He was so focused on finding his brother, that Dean didn't even realise the others had split off from him and Riley. It wasn't until Riley pointed out a commotion in another room that Dean even realised Ed and Harry were now scrapping over something in the next room.

"Hey! Hey, hey!" Dean yelled, pushing the two of them apart. "The fuck are you doing? Cut it out! We're down by two people!"

"What the fuck is going on here?" Riley exclaimed, pulling a shocked looking Maggie back.

But no one answered. Dean rolled his eyes in frustration and turned his back on them. "SAM!"

Riley followed him, leaving the others behind. He didn't even stop to check if they'd followed or not. He was more concerned with finding Sam and Corbett before anything happened to them. He was also more concerned about keeping Riley safe.

The others eventually caught up to them as he and Riley entered the room with all Daggett's war memorabilia again.

"Dean, what are you doing?" Harry asked.

"Daggett was a cold-war nut," Dean said, already sifting through piles of papers. There had to be something here to give him a clue as to where Sam was. "He was an amateur taxidermist. He liked to slow dance with cadavers, and all he ate was C rations. So what the hell are we looking for?"

"A horrible life," Maggie shook her head.

"A lonely life," Riley added.

Dean looked up at Riley sharply. "A cold-war life."

Riley gasped, her eyes widening. "He was scared."

"He was scared," Dean confirmed. "He was scared!" He grabbed her hand and raced towards the door.

"Scared of what?" Ed called after them. "Dean, where you going?"

"Wait!" Maggie called out. "Don't leave me here!"

But Dean didn't stop. He kept his hand firmly around Riley's as he ran. He heard the thunderous footsteps of Ed and his team following him. He led Riley down a flight of stairs, the others still shouting questions at him.

"Dean, what's going on?" Ed asked.

"Guys like Daggett back then, the ones scared of the Russki's, they built bomb shelters," Dean explained finally. "I'm guessing he's got one."

"Ten bucks says it's in the basement," Riley nodded.

"Why do you say that?" Ed asked.

"It's always in the basement," Riley rolled her eyes. "Classic ghost hunt, 101."
