Chapter 3:

I was so busy being shocked that he wasn't the new born my grandmother seemed so petrified of, that I forgot to ask what it actually was. I was staring at Seff who was staring back at me.

"When did she say that? What did she say exactly?!" He asked, already worried to death.

My knees were shaking as I looked straight at him. It seemed intuitive for just the word newborn to scare the lights out of me.

"She told me that I'm not safe with anyone, especially men with black fur." I stuttered and Seff seemed to take pity on me as he led me towards his cabin. No one had ever been invited in by Seff.

We sat in an eery silence.

"So what is a newborn? I never asked," I said as soon as I catch my breath. Seff handed me a cup of tea and sits on a chair. Even in his cabin, he looked exceptionally tall.

"It's a mix, you know. Werewolves are humans with animal souls. We don't harm anyone, we have ultimate control over our beast. But Newborns are a mix, they are werewolves as they can shift into wolves but they are blood thirsty, like vampires. They exude no control over themselves. Newborns are not born like werewolves. Being a werewolf is my heritage. Newborns are created. They are created by other newborns who have gained control and are ultimately becoming just Shifters. The creation of a newborn is always malicious and planned. I can sense the new supernatural as well." He sighed.

I looked at him.

"What can we do?" I asked, feeling excited but extremely fearful at the same time.

"The newborn is always one of us, it's not me, but it could be you. My power is nothing compared to his or hers. I will stay out of the newborn's way and I recommend that you do too."

"Can you fight it with help?" I asked and Seff guffawed in laughter.

"Not you, you are not strong enough."

"How can that work, how can I be the newborn and not know?!" I questioned.

"That's the irony. The newborn is confused, the beast inside him or her is manipulative, causing mood swings and extreme anger but hiding. The beast inside of them is slowly taking over without them knowing. Soon, there will be a casualty and the one important person to the newborn will be outed through that death. They won't kill the important person." He explained. I held my head in confusion.

"I thought the newborn had no control." I sighed and Seff laughed, his voice was edgy and fearful, this was new for him.

"They don't. The beast inside them wants a partner and therefore that is the newborn's one and only weak spot. Yet it's their strong spot as well. Harm their supposed partner and face death on a level you cannot decipher."

I sat there stunned, my mouth open in shock.

"Why don't I train you some more considering there is some impending danger." He sighed.

I stood up, barely reaching his shoulders.

"Seff?" I said, looking at him. The way he looked at me seemed different, weird.

"What if she's wrong? What if my grandmother is just crazy?" I whispered and the looks he gave me just said everything.

"Do you think she's crazy? Do you think someone 'crazy' can be so wise?"

I shook my head.

Seff stood a good six feet away from me, his eyes were glowing bright amber. I watch as he begins to shake, his face is elongating. His cleanly shaven face turned hairier, his teeth grew longer. His body began to bend and twist. I could hear the change. It was unnerving. I couldn't look away as his midnight black hair turned white, his eyes were on me as he fell to the ground, the sound so loud, that I had to cover my ears.
