First Snow Fall

(Luna's Pov)
I put on my coat, and I grabbed my hat and scarf. Snow was falling, and the ground outside was covered in a thin layer of white.

I couldn't wait to go outside.

I burst through the doors of the school, and ran into the snow laughing. I was happy for a moment until I felt cold snow on my back.

I turned slowly, and saw Malfoy laughing, and holding a small snowball. I smiled mischievously, and put my hands in the packed snow. Before I could throw, however, a snowball hit him in the back of his head.

Neville was grinning as the snowball found its mark. He looked at me, and smiled wider. I laughed, and ran to him.

"Neville! Did you do that?" Neville looked embarrassed. "Uh, yeah." I giggled as Malfoy tried to find out who threw it.

I playfully grabbed some snow, and hit Neville in the arm. Neville looked at his arm for a moment, before smiling and throwing a snowball back at me. I shrieked in glee as it missed me.

Neville and I laughed as a snowball war started. I don't know how long we were throwing snowballs back and forth, but soon, we both collapsed in the snow, exhausted.

Neville chuckled. "That was a lot of fun, Luna. I had no idea you liked snowball fights." I shrugged. "They're fun, I just never usually had someone to do them with."

Neville pursed his lips. "Well, at least you got me." I smiled, looking at him.

Neville shifted, and I saw his face was red.

"Neville?" I asked, feeling a little worried. "Is there something wrong?" He quickly shook his head. "Uh, no. Not at all." "Okay, just making sure."

For a moment, it was nice just sitting next to each other in the snow. Neville and I exchanged stories. I told him about nargles, wrackspurts, and crumple-horned snorkacks, and he told me about different plants he found.

Neville then turned to me. "Uh, Luna?" "Yes?"

"Would you, uh, w-want to g-go with me to Hogsmeade tomorrow? Just, to uh, walk around?" I felt a bubble of excitement in my chest. "Sure, Neville. It'll be fun." I saw him smile a bit. "Okay. T-that's great."

We both looked back up to the snow falling in the sky.
