Draco Malfoy

(Neville's Pov)
I sat at the Gryffindor table with Ginny for breakfast. I ate a muffin slowly. Ginny was watching me.

"Neville, how's it going with you? You seem a little distant." I shrugged. "Am I? I dunno."

Ginny raised an eyebrow. "You're thinking about Luna, aren't you." I snorted. "Pft, no, of course not-" Ginny held up a hand. "Don't even try."

I sighed. Ginny could see through anything. "I'm worried. Luna is so sweet and innocent. Her heart's an open book. She doesn't know that I worry so much for her. Malfoy's been bullying her. I know he has. She just won't say anything."

Ginny sighed. "You should go talk to her, then. She hasn't come to breakfast. Maybe tell her how you feel. How much you worry about her. Luna will tell you then that she's being bullied. Luna is honest, when it's time to be."

I sat, thinking. Maybe I could tell Luna that I worry for her. Luna hasn't told me about Malfoy, but I can tell the way she cringes whenever she passes him, and when I see her run to the bathroom every so often.

I stood, said goodbye, and then went to the halls. Luna would understand, I'm sure.

I walked around the corner, and I saw Luna and Malfoy. He was jeering at her, and Luna was shying away from him. "P-please leave me alone." She said shakily, and Malfoy laughed. "What's the fun in that? Besides, it's hilarious really. Klutz and Crazy...they go well together actually." Luna looked down, her eyes brimmed with tears.

I felt a surge of anger. I walked through, and got in between Malfoy and Luna. "Go away, Malfoy. Don't you have anything better to do?"

Malfoy stopped laughing, and looked coldly at me. "Get out of here, Longbottom. This doesn't concern you."

I gritted my teeth. "When you mess with my girlfriend it does." I heard Luna gasp a bit behind me.

Malfoy whipped out his wand. "Why you stupid-" "You're such a coward!" I suddenly yelled. Malfoy looked surprised. "Whenever someone stands up to you, all you do is hex them or something, because you can only hide behind your wand. Get a life, Malfoy!"

Malfoy stood in shock a bit, his wand still pointed at my chest, then his eyes narrowed. "This isn't over, Longbottom." He put his wand away. "Aren't you the brave one, Loony. Hiding behind your oh-so-strong boyfriend." He sneered, and then walked away.

I turned, only to be tackle hugged by Luna. "Thank you Neville." Her eyes were filled with happy tears. She kissed me on the cheek.

I felt a little surprised. I didn't think I could do that without getting jinxed. "Well, you know me," I joked. "The knight in shining armor."

Luna laughed, hugging me tighter.
