The empire was thriving stronger than it had ever been

The empire was thriving stronger than it had ever been.

Zuri's ideas changed the game. The car marts were in full swing, and the salons? A front so clean, even the government couldn't question it. Money flowed through every inch of those businesses, washed spotless before it ever saw the streets. I had to admit, she was smarter than I gave her credit for. She didn't just think about making money—she thought about keeping it safe, keeping it ours.

Since the car marts opened, we had a direct channel to move product without raising suspicion. The salons? A goldmine. Women came in every day, dropping stacks on hair and nails, while we funneled cash through the system like a well-oiled machine. Every detail was accounted for, every risk minimized. And through it all, Zuri handled it like she was born for this.

But I wasn't the type to sit back and stay comfortable. If the business wasn't growing, it was dying.

And I never let anything I built die.

So I came up with something new. Something bigger.

Now, as I sat in my office, I looked over the final contracts for my latest move—the factory. This wasn't just another front. This was a full-scale operation, something that would take my empire beyond just Jamaica. With full control over production, I wouldn't need to rely on outsiders for supply. Everything would be handled in-house, making it nearly impossible for anyone to track where the real money was coming from.

The door opened, pulling me from my thoughts. I glanced up and saw Zuri standing there, the twins in her arms. She watched me with that same sharp, knowing look she always had.

"Mi see yuh still lock up in  yah," she said, stepping inside. "Mi swear yuh live inna  dis office more dan yuh live inna  we bed."

I smirked, leaning back. "Mi haffi make sure di money keep moving, mama. Yuh nuh wah live yuh maddest life in luxury ?"

She adjusted the twins, rolling her eyes. "Mi live in a luxury  already. A yuh mi worried 'bout. Yuh work hard but yuh nah sleep. Wah really a gwaan?"

Pushing the papers aside, I stretched out my arms. "Bring me youth dem come ."

She stepped closer, placing the babies in my grip. I looked down at them two tiny versions of me. One of them stretched out his hand, yawning, and for a second, everything else faded.

I looked back up at Zuri. "Mi decide fi step up di empire again," I told her. "An' mi wah yuh be a part a it."

She raised an eyebrow. "Chris, yuh nuh feel like yuh shoulda start wid 'good morning, my beautiful wife' before yuh drop one bag a madness pon mi?"

I chuckled, shaking my head. "Mi serious, Zuri. Mi now own a factory. Ah big move. One weh ago clean di money faster, more efficient."

Her arms folded across her chest as she eyed me suspiciously. "Chris, factory? Mi wah hear di full story before mi even start think pan it."
