The coffee in my cup had gone cold.

I didn't even realize how long I'd been staring at the waveform on the laptop screen—just watching the tiny spikes of Ricardo's voice it was clear, the timing perfect. But the content? Useless. He spoke only of meetings. Stock trends. Legal strategy. Never personal. Never unguarded.

I leaned back in the chair, frustrated. "Fuck dis yah man a try do."

Aunty Suzan didn't answer right away. She stood by the baby crib, cooing them to sleep.

"We nahv nth solid ," she finally said. "Di man use office like church. Not even him phone ring 'less is business call . No loose talk. Nuttn."

I rubbed my temples. "So what now? If we cyaan catch him slipping in private, we need to pull it outta him. Make him drop something... anything."

Suzan turned back inside, locking eyes with me. "Means we haffi use somebody him trust. Somebody who him might chat a likkle too much 'round. Somebody him never expect."

And right then, the obvious clicked in both our heads.

Sinna.

The only person Ricardo treated with real softness. The only man in his life he truly love.

I sat up straighter. "Him a di tonly one Ricardo would talk to in confidence. Not even you get that level of pass."

Suzan gave a sharp nod. "A him son suh me nuh expect less. And yuh hear wah him seh ... how only man fi run di family business. Di legacy an all that."

"Right," I said. "Him goodly ago start grooming Sinna. Probably always was."

I glanced at the laptop again, dragging the timeline to the newest point in the recording—late last night.

Suzan motioned for me to hit play.

There was silence, then a few soft beeps. A door opened, and Ricardo's voice filtered through:

"Yow, book a reservation fi tomorrow evenin'. Romain reach back inna Jamaica today. Mi wah talk to him one-on-one."

The audio crackled slightly, but the message was clear.

My stomach tensed. "Looks like him nah waste nuh time wid him plan ."

Suzan's jaw tightened. "We cyaan mek dat happen. If Ricardo get to him first... he might pull him in."

"We need to reach Sinna before Ricardo does," I said firmly. "Tell him everything. Before the man sweet talk him into silence."

I walked across the room and grabbed my phone. "Mi can link Paige. She and Sinna juss come off a him tour together, she might know weh him deh."
