When we pulled up to the party it was exactly what imagined it to be like; drunk or high kids on the lawn, bottles everywhere, passed out people, a few streakers, blasting music, and bright flashing lights. While I was observing all my friends took off. What great friends.

I then walked up to the door and went in. I was approached by the smell of alcohol, smoke, and sweat. I cringed as I headed towards the kitchen.

I looked around until I found a can of ginger ale. I'm the designated driver tonight so I can't drink.

"Really a soda?" Said a familiar voice.

"Yeah, I'm the DD tonight Alex." He just smirked as I took a sip. He was wearing a Nirvana surfer tank top, and kaki cargo shorts, with Chucks. In that shirt you could see his muscles that were so ho- I caught myself.

River what are you doing? Are you checking him out?! Why would you do that?! Snap out of it!

"Why are you all dressed up?"

"My friends made me."

"Ah, wanna real drink?" He pointed towards some beer.

"No I'm good." He just nodded.

"Wanna dance?" He asked.

"Not like I got anything better to do." I muttered as I followed him.

--Alex's POV--

"Wanna dance?" Really? You asked her to dance? Maybe this water is spiked?

She just muttered something as I trailed behind her. As we were walking I noticed she was wearing a black lace dress that stops and he upper thigh, her makeup and hair made her look really sexy. Wait what?! Oh god, I was just checking her out when Finn called dibs on her.

When we got to the dance floor she didn't grind or tweak or anything like that, she just swayed.

I then noticed that Finn was glaring at me.

"I got to go." I said lying.

"Whatever." She muttered.

I walked away from her and gave a thumbs up to Finn as he started walking towards her.

--Finn's POV--

To be honest, I've had a crush on River since fourth grade. She was always so confident, brave, cute, and was good at comebacks.

We used to be real close friends since seventh grade, but that's when I joined a football team and we drifted off.

I always loved making her blush and laugh.

After Alex walked away from her I went towards her. "Hey." I said.

"For your information I'm River. If you want a slut go somewhere else Matthews." She said rudely.

"Wow, that's how you greet a old friend after all these years." I said placing a hand on my heart for sarcastic hurt.

She just rolled her eyes. "We aren't friends anymore. You even had a choice. But you chose the 'populars' over us." She said hurtfully.

"I know I'm sorry. I was just overwhelmed." I had finally said the truth. I hated being popular.

"Wait, you are?" She asked easing her signature eyebrow.

"Yeah, so what college are you going to?" I asked changing the subject to lighten the mood.

"I'm going to Northwestern along with Jason and Em's. Anna is going to Yale."
