"The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."
Proverbs 12:18

NIGHTFALL ARRIVED and it was time for the contest. The new visitor's work was not over. Their new task was background. Either bringing props or adjusting the light. At least they had a better look at the stage.

"First act!" Vincentio announced. A group of little girls wearing white dresses and their hair braided with colorful ribbons walked on stage.

"Oh, this will be adorable." Trebonius said to Gabriel.

Lysander glared at him and placed himself between them.

The little girls performed a rendition of a children's tale. They made little gestures, were a little sloppy, but the audience loved them.

"Parolles, you're next!"

A man walked on stage. His act was a speech he had written, which turned out to be a love confession to a woman in the audience. The woman accepted. And the two ran off.

"Sweet, I guess." Lysander mentioned.

"Was certainly a way to confess."

"If I did it, would you accept it?" He asked Gabriel.

Gabriel placed his hand on his lover's shoulder. "I'm already with you. Don't worry about if's."

The next few acts went on. One of the final acts was a man with a guitar. His hair was slicked with a shiny pomade while his outfit was bedazzled in rhinestones.

"Oh, wow." Lysander said. "Didn't know you have an Elvis impersonator."

"He's amazing." Trebonius said.

"Can he do the voice and dances?" Lysander asked.

"Like Elvis himself."

The Elvis impersonator went on stage, tapping the mic before strapping his guitar over his neck. A tune began to play that was all too familiar with Lysander.

Wise men say,
Only fools rush in,
But I can't help falling in love with you.

Lysander grabbed Gabriel's hand.

Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin,
If I can't help falling in love with you.

"Dance with me, pretty boy." Lysander said.

"With you, always." Gabriel replied.

The two held their hands and swayed to the music slowly. Under the hazy glow of old lights and the smell of mud around them, it was even more magical than what either could have created in their heads.

Take my hand,
Take my whole life, too,
For I can't help falling in love with you.

Lysander tilted Gabriel back as the song ended. The crowd cheered in applause while the Elvis impersonator bowed.

"What do you think, should that be our song?" Lysander asked.

"Our song?" Gabriel then asked.

"Yes, our song. Every couple has their song. My parents had So This is Love. Why not make this ours?"

Gabriel let out a chuckle, watching his lover gently stroke his fingers on his arm still feeling the music.

"Then I guess we have a song now." He said.

The crowd had demanded another song from the Elvis impersonator. He danced and sang on stage for the rest of the night.

MIDNIGHT had arrived. Their work wasn't done as it was now time to clean up.
