negative.
i let out a sigh of relief and kyle brings me into a hug. i grab the test and throw it into my small trash can.

the next day

i walk out the elevator, missing my wife's presence. i walk down the hallway and as i get closer to my door, i see the new hired woman from management.
don't piss me off.
"good morning" i smile at her
"good morning mrs. o'connell" she smiles back "i need to speak with you about something"
"i see, considering you are standing outside of my office door at 7:45am" i say annoyed by that
why the hell would you be right at my office before work hours? what the hell is your problem?
"it's urgent, sorry" she apologizes
"whatever" i say before unlocking my door and walking in
she walks in behind me and sits at the chair in front of my desk. i sit down at my desk and she's staring at me smiling.
"can you stop looking at me like that? it's weird, and you look quite awful" i say before logging into my computer
"oh"
"so what are you here for?" i ask
"i was looking at the locations we have of stores and i couldn't help but notice, why do we have way many stores than needed? we could shut down some and save money on the investment and employment" she say
"i know, i've been looking into that issue and quite frankly. people have jobs. i wouldn't want to take that away from them, me losing a little money isn't gonna change anything. we don't need more homeless people and i make billions everyday, this problem isn't that much of an issue" i say
"mrs. o'connell, i get your concern on people losing their jobs but it's hurting your business."
"me losing one million is nothing. i'm not going bankrupt. it's okay. i've already clarified this previously"
"except...it's not okay" she say before handing me a file
i open it up to see documents of stores too close together, one thriving and the other...drastically different, like three sales in one week.
"mrs.o'connell, you know it's a danger to have that negative influence in your business. you will have to close down, it's not meeting your monthly goals" she say
"we need to find a solution"
"we can pull a forever 21 and act like these stores are closing and give discounts"
"what's your name again?" i ask her
"ellie walker" she smiles
"well ellie, i find you full of shit."
"fine. you want your business to fail, so be it" she roll her eyes snatching the folder back
"get the hell out of my office" i say
"gladly" she stands up and walks out
the rest of the morning went by smoothly and before i knew it, it was time for lunch.
although, in the back of my mind i couldn't help but wonder if she was correct. would it really negatively impact me that bad?
i should probably come up with a solution. what was her name again? i forgot.
