I woke up to see that Macy, Andrea, and Shay were already awake. "Good morning," Macy said.

"Morning," I replied.

"Who wants breakfast?" Shay asked.

We all said that breakfast sounded amazing and made our way to the kitchen. Shay pulled out an electric skillet, a can of spray butter, a bowl, a spatula, a carton of eggs, and cheese. Then, she grabbed the salt and pepper.

"Everyone good with eggs?" Shay asked.

Macy, Andrea, and I all said that they were fine. Shay plugged in the skillet and turned it on. She sprayed some butter on it so that the eggs wouldn't stick. As the skillet heated up, she cracked the eggs and whisked them in a bowl. Finally, she poured the eggs into the skillet.

When the eggs were done, we each grabbed a plate and a fork and scooped some onto our plates. "These are really good," I complimented.

"Thanks. They're better if there's green pepper, and sausage or ham in it, though," she replied.

I left around eleven o'clock and drove home. I meet Nick at his house at one, so, I wanted to shower and get cleaned up before I went over there.

My parents left a note saying that they'd be back soon. I figured that I'd text them and tell them that I'm taking Mom's car because I already have it and Nick didn't say anything about picking me up. My mom said it was fine.

I went downstairs to take my shower. I actually felt happy today, genuinely happy. I didn't feel like I needed to plaster on that stupid fake smile, the smile just came naturally. This is a good sign.

When I got out of the shower, I dried off and changed into a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a white tank top, and then slipped on a blue and green plaid shirt over the tank top. I styled my hair in a fishtail braid that went over my left shoulder and then I did my makeup.

All I did for my makeup was cover up, powder, mascara, and a light coat of lipstick. Not much.

After that, I walked to my room and put all my bracelets on. There's no such thing as too careful when it comes to hiding my wrists.

Then, since it was only quarter after twelve, I grabbed my book and walked upstairs. After getting cozy on the couch, I began to read.

At twenty to one, I bookmarked my page and got off the couch. After grabbing my history folder, I grabbed my keys, locked the house, and walked out to my mom's car.

Nick had texted me directions earlier today, so all I did was put the address into the GPS on my phone. Then, I started the engine.

Time to go to Nick's.

I rang the doorbell and Nick's mom answered it. "Hi, Mrs. Rivers. I'm here to work on a project with Nick. . ." I trailed off, not knowing what else to say.

"Come on in, Layla," she said. I walked inside. "Nick! Layla, that girl you always talk about, is here!"

"Mom," he groaned as he walked downstairs.

I giggled. "Well, I'll leave you two alone," Mrs. Rivers said. Then, she walked down the hallway, leaving Nick and I alone to work on our project.

"So, y- you talk about me, huh?" Why did I have to stutter? Uh!

He rubbed the back of his neck; I think he does that when he's nervous.

"Um, yeah," he said with a small smile, probably trying to relieve the tension.
