Birthday Wish

“Wake up sleeping beast! You’re going to be late for work!” were the endearing words I woke up to. Wiping the sleep from my eyes, I answered back, “Who are you calling a beast? Gorilla face!” I shouted at Emma with a giggle. “Okay you both are gorilla faces! Now get up An I made us breakfast.” aded Clar. Mornings with these girls were never dull. I finally got up, stretched and made my bed. I don’t consider myself a clean freak, but I do like my room to be tidy as well as the rest of the apartment. I walked down the hall towards the bathroom. I loved how Emma decorated it ocean theme it always made me feel so calm. My favorite decoration in there is the painting Clar made of the ocean. It was very beautiful and gave me a soothing feeling, but then there was a hint of loneliness in it. I’m sure she was thinking of William when she painted it, he loved the ocean. “Anabella Marie Hart if you don’t hurry your tiny butt up I will go over there and drag you out by the hair cave man style!” were Emma’s words interrupting me from my thoughts. “Yeah I’m sure you would be able to with your cave man face!” I shot back giggling. Emma can be a little comedian sometimes.  I quickly washed my face and brushed my teeth.

Finally, I headed towards the kitchen “Okay you guys what’s with all the…” “Happy Bithday An!” shouted Emma and Clar as I turned the corner to enter the kitchen. I jumped up, kicking and flapping my arms, eyes wide with shock. “Freaken fadoole sticks! You guys startled me!” The two starting laughing uncontrollably. “Oh my gosh… you should’ve seen the look…the look on your face!.. Priceless!” Clar said between bursts of laughter. “Damn… if only we had…a camera!” Emma added between giggles as well. I cannot believe I had forgotten all about my 21st birthday. I have been so absorbed with school and work I didn’t even have time to think about anything else. I squinted my eyes at them and then softened into a smile laughing along with them “Come here you two laughing hyenas!” I pulled them into a group hug and they squeezed back. “I love you guys I’m so glad fate put you in my life. Thank you so much for remembering.” I told them with genuine sincerity. I was very blessed to have these two girls. “Aw we love you too” said Clar with a smile. “We’re soul sisters, don’t ever forget that” said Emma making me tear tears of joy. I am really very lucky. “Okay enough with all of this gushy stuff. Let’s dig into some birthday cake!” Clar interrupted, making us wipe away our tears. The cake was a lovely red velvet cake, my favorite. There were 20 small pink candles around the circumference of the cake and a single blue in the center. Clar and Em were lighting the candles in a rush because the wax was starting to drip on to the cake. They would blow some out accidently during the process. I giggled as I watched my best friends struggle to light up all the candles, how many best friends does it take to light up a birthday cake? Three, as I finally decided to help them. “Finally, they’re all lit quick make a wish!” shouted Emma “Wait! Be careful what you wish for.” added Clar. I closed my eyes and wished that my soul mate would find me soon, and then took a deep breath and blew out all the candles.
