“What the hell was all that about!?” Emma practically shrieked.

“Yeah, what the flippers An! We’re your best friends and we’re barely finding out you have Mr. Hot Tamales back there wooing you!” Clar added. Clar isn’t one to use curse words she replaces them with silly nonsense.

“First of all, his name is Vincent! And second, he only recently started to woo me! And third I don’t know what to do about it.” I said the last part with my face in my hands.

“You poor thing, how terrible it is to have an unbelievably hot, sexy piece of a man after you! Oh the horror!” Emma added sarcastically.

I squinted my eyes at her, “You know I’ve never had a boyfriend! He was going to kiss me! I’ve never been kissed! I don’t know how!”

“Oh for goodness sake! He’s the perfect male specimen to teach you how!”

My eyes widened, “Clar!”

“Oh hush! You know I’m right”

My face warmed at the memory of Vince’s close proximity. He wouldn’t be the worst male specimen…actually he’s probably the most qualified male specimen..but I can’t just go around kissing people. I have feelings for him, how can I not develop them? He’s been a great friend, listened to me, really listened. He’s accepted my dorky sense of humor and never made me feel like a weirdo, actually, he would join in on my weirdness. He had a pure soul, but I don’t feel that pull I feel between soul mates. As much as I would like him to be…he wasn’t and I can’t keep him from finding his true soul mate. I hadn’t noticed that Em and Clar were watching me.

“What are you thinking? You’re face hides nothing, now spill.” Em said with a serious tone.

I sighed, “Okay, I admit I like him… but I know he’s not the one. You know?”

“How can you possibly know that?” Clar responded this time, “You haven’t even given him a chance.”

“I just know, it’s hard to explain.”

Em was about to protest but I put my hand up to stop her.

“Where are you guys taking me out tonight?” I asked trying to change the subject.

Luckily this threw the conversation onto a different path. Em’s face lit up with excitement while Clar’s fell into a frown. Em noticed and lightly punched her on the shoulder

“Don’t be a party pooper, you promised you would try to have fun.” She gave Clar her puppy dog face.

Clar sighed and threw her hands up in defeat “We’re taking you to a night club! Yay for sleazy crowds and obnoxious drunk people…”

“What!? No freaken way! I’m so excited!” I said squealing like a high school teenager. In school, I was serious. Inside our apartment I was a dork. Out in the streets at night, I was unpredictable. A night out with the girls was exactly what I needed to release the stress from finals week.

When we arrived at the club the bouncer let us in right away, one of the perks of having a super generous, rich best friend.

“Thanks Em! Without you we would have been waiting in line forever.”

“You are very welcome An, but I beg to differ. In that outfit, there’s no way you would have been waiting in that line for long, you look super H.O.T. Hot!”

I blushed, “Are you sure? I’m feeling pretty self conscious in this” I said while pulling down the hem of my dress. It was a skin tight gold dress that hugged me in all the right places, places I wasn’t use to showing off. Em bought me the dress as a bonus birthday gift, it looks very expensive, probably is very expensive. But that’s Em for you, very openhanded with those close to her.
