Attempted Murder

I was out in the forest, about 30 miles from home. My city resembled those of the ancient Greeks and Romans on Earth. To east of my city is the great blue ocean and to the west is forest filled mountains and valleys. I was not far from the location I was heading towards. I had captured and chained up an enormous male bear. He was about 12 feet on all four and a lot taller on his hind legs. He has not eaten in two weeks, so I can only imagine his ravenous hunger. When I approached him he was already expecting me, baring his canines. Bears have an excellent sense of smell. He stared me down with cold, hate filled eyes promising murder. Perfect, I smirked up at him setting him into a fit of anger. He roared with rage trying desperately to reach me, I only a foot away from his reach. This made me chuckle, “Pathetic animal.” He stopped and stared at me once again with his hate filled eyes. I took a step closer, causing him to growl ferociously, “Relax, today I set you free. You’ll get your chance to avenge yourself.” In a blink of an eye I lunged upwards, landing a blow on the side of his face knocking him out. I rubbed my right fist alleviating the slight sting; this bear had a really thick skull. I took out a small knife and sliced my left palm. The scent of my blood made the bear stir slightly. I started making my way back to the city leaving a trail of my blood for the starving bear to follow. The sun was starting to set, but it only took me a couple of minutes to make the 30 mile journey.

I entered the house my parents reside in. Delilah and Darius were having dinner. She looked at me with eyes that showed a mixture of surprise and joy. She gave me an endearing smile, “What a pleasant surprise. Won’t you join us for dinner Dante?” I rarely visited them. The only times I came were to look for any opportunities to end her. “Of course, mother… but first may I ask a favor from you?” I had practiced being pleasant. Again, another wave of shock and joy entered her eyes. I stopped calling her mother after the change. Darius tensed, and looked at me with an unreadable expression. Delilah got up and walked towards me with open arms, “Of course Dante, I’d do anything for you” she said softly. “I love you with my whole heart” she said as she gently wrapped her arms around me. I tensed, wanting to plunge my knife into her heart at that moment. Her kindness and love disgusted me, but a practiced smile entered my face “Will you heal my wound?..please.” I raised my left palm to show her. A look full of concern entered her face as she took my hand into hers. She closed her eyes and gently traced my wound with her finger tips instantly healing it “Thank you… Mother,” I said with another practiced smile. She smiled warmly back at me with those loving eyes. Again, I had to restrain myself. I followed her back to the dinner table and took a seat across from them. I made eye contact with Darius, “How did you wound yourself Dante?” he said unemotionally. His distrust of me was evident. I was about to answer when I was interrupted by a blood curdling scream followed by an animalistic roar. Darius was up in an instant heading towards the door. Perfect timing bear I thought sadistically. Delilah paled and was starting out the door when I grabbed her and pulled her into an embrace, “No mother, you can get hurt out there” “But Dante they’ll need my help if someone gets hurt” “I need you here…” this subdued her and I continued to hold her as a sob broke through lips. Carefully I pulled out the dagger I carefully hid in my sleeve “Oh Dante, have you really come back to us? Is the curse breaking?” she said with tears falling down her cheek. She looked up at me when I didn’t answer, “Dante?..” I looked into her eyes showing my hatred through my murderous blood red eyes. Fear filled her eyes and tried pulling away, but quickly stopped when she felt the tip of my dagger. This time, a genuine smile entered my face and I plunged the dagger into her. She yelled out in pain. I chuckled viciously “What’s the matter mother, did I hurt you?.” The only way to kill an angel is to take out their heart and that is what I am going to do. I cut a wound big enough for my hand to fit. “Dante… I love you… no matter what you do.” she said between her heavy panting. I dropped the dagger and forced my hand into the wound entering her body causing her to yell out again in agonizing pain. “Do you still love me now.” I said between my teeth aggravated with her stupidity. Does she really think I believe her? How can you still love someone who wants to kill you? She is a liar and she will pay with her life for her insolence. I grabbed her heart and squeezed causing yet another excruciating painful scream to escape her lips. “I…will…always…love you…” she said shakily. “I will never love you” I responded coldly. I was about to pull her heart out when suddenly there was a hard blow to my arm followed by another hard blow to my head that sent me flying towards the concrete wall. I dropped to the floor. It took me 5 seconds to come to. My arm was obviously broken as it bent in an impossible angle. I faced Darius giving him a murderous glare. He will pay for this. At the moment he was busy passing Delilah over to his angel friend, Aaron. Aaron left the house with Delilah in his arms unconscious. Darius faced me then, his blue eyes showing anger so great they resembled a brutal ocean storm. “You are pure Evil Dante. I can tolerate you no longer. You are banished from this world.” I chuckled sadistically, “You are no one to banish me. You hold no real power.” “Stay here and I will kill you. You are not my son. My son died a long time ago and you were left in his body. Leave now.” he said coldly. I gritted my teeth. I was not strong enough yet to kill him, yet. My work here is not done either Delilah’s heart continues to beat. “I will leave, but I will return to rip her heart out as well as yours.” I responded coldly. Darius’ fist tightened, “Don’t test me boy. If it were not for Delilah, you would be dead right now. I can still make that happen.” I glared at him viciously as I stepped out.

The bear was dead. There was a pool of blood around his lifeless body. There was a group of people around what looked like a young girl. Her body contained long gashes and a gaping hole in her chest. She was dead. Probably an angel, they were the weakest beings in this world. The crowd looked up at me with rage in their eyes for what I caused. I gave them a sardonic smile as I released my pitch black angel wings from within. Angels have the ability to draw in their wings if they wish. I rarely let mine out. I despised my angel side. The crowd gasped at the color of my wings, no one had seen them since the change. The color of an angel’s wings reflects the color of their soul. “He’s a monster! Look he has no soul!” someone from the crowd shouted. I chuckled and took off into the atmosphere and out of my world. I am to travel through the universe at an unbelievable speed because of my angel side. Angels are creatures of the light which is why we appear to glow. Basically, I can travel at the speed of light.

I do not know how long it took me reach Earth’s atmosphere, but I was relieved when I finally arrived. It was not my first visit here so I was familiar with their culture. During my previous visit, about two weeks ago, I had a one bedroom apartment rented out to me in San Francisco. Fortunately, it was midnight when I reached the San Francisco Bay. I was about 40 feet above the water when I retracted my wings and dove straight into it.
