(Kayson's POV)

I scanned my appearance in the mirror and nodded. I looked pretty good in my ripped red skinnies and black Sleeping With Sirens t-shirt. I slipped on my cheap off-shoot Vans and trotted downstairs.

Just as I reached the bottom step I halted and considered going back upstairs. "I thought you were going to school." I said.

Kyle chuckled. "Haven't you looked at a clock? It's like almost 5:00pm. School ended already."

I glanced out the window on reflex and I saw the sun was already high in the sky. "Oh..." I muttered.

I walked past Kyle, my face a deep red from earlier's little show, and into the kitchen. I pulled out a bowl and filled it with cereal and milk.

Kyle watched me silently and, without a word, I sat down at the table and began to eat. I looked calm and put together but, I wanted to scream. Kyle was staring at me and he didn't look like he was going to leave anytime soon.

I took bite and he sat down in front of me. Another bite, he leaned on his elbows in front of me. Bite, he scooted forward.

"What are you doing?" I asked, putting my spoon down. He shrugged. "Waiting."

"For what?"

He shrugged again. "You said I could take you on a date."

I sunk in my seat and muttered into my cereal, "I did? I don't remember that..."

Kyle's face dropped a little. "I'm not forcing you, you know. If you really don't want to I'll leave you alone."

I reacted before I even thought. "I never said that!" I said, standing up.

Kyle looked surprised and my face heated up to a blaze. I quickly took my seat again and looked down. Kyle stared at me then smiled. "Thank you."

I wanted to crawl into the darkest corner and die. "N-No problem..."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door and we both looked over. "Probably my Aunt..." I muttered to myself and hurried to answer it.

"Auntie-" I began as I opened the door. But, the second I could see who it was I slammed the door.

"Kayson? Please, let me in. We have an appointment today." A voice said.

"Go die, Chase!" I called and locked the door, walking back into the kitchen. Kyle had an eyebrow raised. "Who's that?"

"Just an ass. It's no one you need to worry about." I said dismissively.

Kyle frowned but, didn't say anything else. I sighed and plopped back into my seat. "So, what did you have in mind for this 'date'?"

Kyle sat back. "Well, I was thinking you could pick. We could go to a movie or an amusement park. I could take you to dinner."

I shrugged. "I've never dated. I would pick something stupid. You choose."

"You sure?"

I nodded and he thought for a minute. "What about-"

There was a clicking noise and then the front door could be heard opening. "...I'm sorry about that. He is usually a sweet kid." I heard my Aunt say.

"It's fine. I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding." Chase replied.

My Auntie walked into the kitchen and placed her bag down before putting her hands on her hips "Kayson. Would you please explain to me why you locked Chase outside?"

I gave her a sweet smile. "I'm not allowed to let strangers in. It's dangerous. Besides, most strangers end up being perverted creeps."

Chase coughed and my Aunt looked pissed. "Kayson, you-"

"It's alright, Miss Pyne. He is completely right." He gave me a smile. "I would've thought he'd remember what I looked like but, it's fine if he forgot."

I gave him a sassy shrug. "Same here. It's hard to forget such a memorable prick."

Chase's smile grew a bit forced and I could feel my Aunt's glare on my back. Chase seemed to want a change of subject and he turned to Kyle. "I don't think I've met you before." He said as he held his hand out.

It tugged at me a little that he wanted to shake Kyle's hand and I stepped in between them. "What's your point?"

Chase chuckled lightly. "Well, I just didn't know who he was. I am in charge of your well being so I should know who you're hanging out with."

"That's none of your business." I snapped. Chase frowned but, before he could say anything I said, "Come on, Kyle."

I grabbed his arm and tugged him up the stairs. He followed me, glancing between me and Chase. I shut my door and rolled my eyes. "Fucking asshole..." I muttered.

Kyle watched me as I went to my bed and face planted into the mattress. "Who was that? Your Aunt's boyfriend?"

"Oh, God... Just thinking about that scenario makes me sick. It's bad enough without that." I said into my pillow.

Kyle frowned and sat down in my desk chair. "Then who is he?"

"Damn CPS agent. He's the agent on our case." I said.

"Is he the one you talked about before?"

I gave a bitter laugh. "Yup. He's been coming into my house without permission since I was little. He just wants Macey..."

Kyle was silent. I sighed and sat up. "Sorry about being so snappy back there. I just didn't want you to get involved with him. He'll just find a way to mess with you and Kayla."

Kyle shrugged. "I wouldn't let him come anywhere near my sister."

"I wouldn't either if I had a choice." I growled.

The room grew silent, the air tense. Then Kyle said, "So, I guess this means we're off for this evening. You seem a little busy and I don't think your Aunt would let you go from your oh-so-charming behavior a minute ago."

"Like she can tell me what to do." I snorted. "She's not my mother."

"Chase! You're here!"

Both our heads turned to the door as we heard a happy shout and stomping as someone ran down the stairs. I scowled. "I have to go. If you want you can stay here and wait. I'll probably be up in an hour or so."

Kyle nodded and I left the room. I walked downstairs and saw Chase holding Macey. "You looked healthier and healthier everytime I see you." He gushed.

I narrowed my eyes. "Don't touch her." I growled.

Macey heard me and wriggled free so she could run over. "Chase is here, Kayson." She said happily.

I gave her a smile. "I know. Why don't you go watch TV, okay?"

She nodded and scurried put of the room. I shot a glare at Chase as I passed him. "Ever touch her again and I swear you'll regret it."

"Kayson, I'm not going to hurt you or your sister. At some point you have to understand that and grow up." Chase said calmly.

"Oh, of course. I totally forgot how inoccent you are." I said sarcastically. "You aren't trying to ship us off to different families or anything."

He sighed and we both walked into the breakfast room. Another night of questions, arguing, and trying not to lose my cool as I remembered the hot jock sitting right upstairs in my bedroom.
