Taking a couple deep breathes, Jay lifts the corner of his shirt up as he looks at himself in the mirror. Thankfully, the bruises were fading away with each passing day and he would be able to put everything that had happened in the rearview.
It had been about a week since the incident on the roof, and four days since he had signed the paperwork to clear himself of responsibility for what had happened. The fight he and Erin had still lurked in his mind, however, he was ready to move forward.
There was nothing denying how much they loved each other, or belonged to be together. They adored each other to no end, had great chemistry together, always enjoyed every single moment together, and would do whatever it took to ensure that happened. There was just something special from the moment they had rekindled together while trying to make up for the lost time.
They also worked well together, and that proved by how each case seemingly came together with an answer. It's why as hurt as he was by what happened, he knew he was ready to take the chance again with her and see where it went this time. What if this was the love that he had been chasing his whole life?
"Jay, are you ready?" He hears called out from the main lobby. "We're going to be late."
Another deep breath and quick glance in the mirror, he ensures that everything is in place where it is supposed to be. He could not walk into his first day back at work from everything that happened with something out of place.
He then reaches for the table, grabbing his wallet and phone and placing them in his pocket first. He then reaches for the gun that was alongside them, placing it in the holster alongside the pocket. The final piece brought a small smile to his face, as he clipped his badge to his pocket where it belonged.
He makes his way out of the bedsroom to the main living space, smiling as he sees her standing by the door waiting for him. He does not have time to dwindle, though, slipping on his shoes as he grabs the keys that hung by the door.
"I'm ready," he states as he follows her outside, shutting the door behind them and locking it. "I'll always be ready for work, and especially when I'm working with you. Would there ever be any doubt?"
She could not help but smirk in response as they made their way to the elevator, and took the ride down the main floor. They then walk out together, a smirk traded between them as they do so.
"You're lucky that I am letting you drive," she comments as they get into the truck together. "The reason that I never let you drive before is I can't ride in the passenger seat if I am not comfortable with the person. It makes me very anxious. I guess you could say that you're comforting for me, young grasshopper."
"That's the biggest compliment that I could get about my driving from anyone," he replies, before leaning over the center console to give her a kiss. "I love you, Erin. I've always loved you, and will always love you, forever and always. There's nothing that is ever going to change that. There's no case that will change that. There's nobody that could come into our lives that would change that. There's no event that could happen. Whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me, forever and always. I love you so much."
