Arlo is not the type of man to cheat but I had never seen him look so animated while talking to another woman as he is all about me so seeing him that way with Scarlett was off-putting. I would not consider myself to be the jealous type but seeing him act that way did something to me and it made me act out.

Dinner was ruined.

I tried to get him to stay once Scarlett had returned from the restroom but his mood had soured and he told Scarlett straight that the dinner was over. He would not speak to me during the ride home but still opened and shut the door for me which left me feeling hopeful for our night.

Arlo slept in the guest bedroom that night and I was left feeling lost for words because I did not see our night ending that way. I woke up around seven in the morning and Arlo was already out of the house but he sent me a message letting me know that he was heading to work.

I went to the gym for forty five minutes before meeting my mom and Galina at ten in the morning for breakfast.

"You know that Arlo is a tricky one so it's only natural that he would react in that manner." My mom rubs her lips together. "All I would say is that you apologise to him in a way that compliments you both or . We've already established that Arlo is not that in tune with his emotional side and is likely blinded by trauma so he probably was trying to be normal for you."

"I just hate that he won't speak to me directly." I sigh while sipping on my tea. "He has been reaching out to me through texts to check if I'm doing alright but he isn't responding to my direct texts and he is airing my calls."

"Give him time." Galina tells me. "You've probably hurt his feelings by accusing him of flirting with another woman and he likely needs time to process this."

"Why are you guys on his side?" I ask curiously because although my family like Arlo, he likes to keep his distance from them.

"We're not on his side nor are we on your side." Mom clears her throat. "I didn't really understand Arlo when you first started bringing him around because he would act as if we didn't exist but we got to learn more about him over time. The fact is that you are his first real serious relationship and you probably make him feel human so you could have made him doubt himself."

I sigh deeply, "I'm aware of that but I just felt so annoyed because he's suddenly laughing and smiling with another woman."

"You wanted him to be more socially aware so this is something that you're going to have to get used to." She shrugs her shoulders. "You either want him to be more welcoming to the people in his life or not."

Galina gives me a look, "Arlo would never step out on you so don't worry about being replaced."
