Jack glared at Dayna from his spot next to Star across the tiny treehouse. Dayna rolled her eyes and looked at Star. Jack had reasons. Star was painfully beautiful, with her fine delicate features and slim, tiny frame. Jack huffed. "She's totally over reacting! I mean, we're just friends, right?" Star shrugged. "Maybe she is just scared or does not understand. Because think about it. You two have been leading perfectly normal lives until that earthquake. Now you are swept into a world you know nothing about. So I would just give her time and try to talk to her." She finished. Jack looked at her in shock. Star looked behind her. "What?" Jack shook his head and grinned his famous crooked grin. "You're just unbelievable." Star blushed and looked away. "Not really. I can just guess how you feel." She said and stood up to her full height, which was only to Dayna's shoulders, and looked at her. "Do you want to go explore with me?" Dayna shrugged and nodded. "Ok. I will be waiting for you down there." Star said. She got a running start and leapt out the window of the treehouse, letting out a cry of joy and excitement. Dayna smiled and calmly climbed down the tree trunk in time to see Star's flips and her graceful landing. Then she could've sworn she saw swan or dove feathers littering the ground from above.
After Star and Dayna got back, Jack suggested they try to find something to eat. "Since we couldn't find anything this morning..." He cast a sideways glance at Dayna and Star elbowed him in the ribs. He wheezed and looked at her. Her eyes were stern and held a warning. He cleared his throat and continued. "We should probably hunt now before we starve to death." He added. Star nodded. "Ok. That is a good idea. So, who wants to look where?" After they separated, everyone kept their eyes peeled. Star had kept her powers hidden for so long that when she was alone, they went wild. Dayna and Jack had made sticks into deadly knives they now carried. Jack had found some colorful, juicy fruit on a tree and picked them, planning to ask Star if they were edible. Dayna stabbed some mouse-like creatures and tied their tails together. Jack kept looking until he smelled smoke and heard a high pitched, sing-song cry. "Star!" Jack whispered in panic. He dropped the leaves he carrying and ran towards the fire. Dayna saw him run and sprinted after him. "WHATS GOING ON?!?" She yelled. "STAR'S IN TROUBLE!!!" He yelled back. She stopped running, causing Jack to stop too. "What are you doing?! Come on, we have to go help Star!" Dayna shook her head. "No." She said simply. "W-why not? She could get hurt!" He sputtered. Dayna stood her ground. "No. Not again. I'm not going to watch you play Prince Charming on that bony rat" she spat bitterly. "Dayna! What happened to you? She could DIE!!!" Dayna turned away. "Good luck. See you" she said and walked away. Jack cursed and continued towards the fire.
