Star cried out in desperation as the flames drew closer. They were whispering to her. "Join us" they said. "Just let go. They do not need you" she held her ears and screamed. The voices were piercing her brain, deep into the heart of all her knowledge. "PLEASE HELP IT HURTS!!" She screamed, knowing nobody would hear her. She crumpled to the ground and felt the flames start to consume her flesh. "STAR!!!" She heard Jack's panicked yell as her eyes started to close. "Jack" she whispered and blacked out. The flames instantly stopped and trees came and crowded around her, hiding, crushing, and cutting her. "STAR!!" Jack called, out of breath."Star" he whispered and fell to his knees. He looked around the burnt and broken landscape for any signs of life. None. He started digging, desperate to at least find her, dead or alive. He pulled up smoldering trees and stones looking for a scrap or a sign. "STAR!!!" He yelled again, anguish lined his voice. Some crows circled overhead and squawked. They dove and started pecking at a place in the ashes. It was beneath countless trees and burnt things, and there were specks of blood on the ash. The animal had to have died painfully. Jack ran over and shooed the crows away. Between two of the tree trunks was a limp, pale hand. "Star!" He whispered and dug furiously. He uncovered her face and held it between his shaking hands. "Just hold on ok? I got you." He said and uncovered the rest of her broken, burnt, bruised and cut body. He nearly cried out in joy when he saw her shallow breathing. He raced back to the treehouse and laid her on her bed. He looked at Dayna, who was crouched in a corner sharpening her stick. "Can I get a little help over here?" He snapped, his calm, intelligent self returning. Dayna shrugged. "Depends. Are you going to ask me to help her, or help you?" Jack cursed. "IM NOT IN LOVE WITH HER OK?! WE'RE JUST FRIENDS!!! WHY CANT YOU JUST GET OVER THAT?!?!" He yelled. "BECAUSE THERE'S OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING GOING ON BETWEEN YOU GUYS!!!" She screeched back. She blew her bangs to the side. He stepped closer and grabbed her hand. "I'm sorry it seems that way to you. But you know there's nothing, so we can forget about it. Star needs our help right now, and I need your help right now" he said, his eyes gentle. Dayna looked away and huffed. "Fine" she muttered. Jack released her and grinned. "Ok. So, she has some severe burns, cuts and bruises, but I don't think anything else. Nothing's broken." He said calmly. Dayna shrugged. There's nothing we can do for the bruises, by we can put some kind of bandage on the cuts and water on the burns. What we really need right now are burn cream, a Band-aid pack and a big hunk of Neosporin." She muttered.
