Maria-Stella

"Stel!" I heard my best friend yell out, she was teetering on her heels, attempting to run to me
"What's up?" I asked, taking a drag of my smoke
"We have to leave, like now,"
"What why?"
"Tony's here and he saw Michael,"
"Oh shit," I said, butting out my cigarette, "club or yours?" I asked
"We're going back to mine," she said, "you can't risk being seen, your families going to have Michaels head,"
"Yeah, this bars on our turf," I said. Mine and Michael's fathers had separated the city of Melbourne in to divisions. Where they could deal, and where my family's men could deal. It was stupid. Right now, Fog, the bar Natasha and I were at, was in Prahran, was ours. We had taken over the Eastern and Southern Suburbs of Melbourne. The Clifford's had taken ownership of the Western and Northern suburbs. And the CBD? That was a free for all, "well papa's turf," I continued
"Enough with the talking!" She said, "we gotta split,"

We rushed out of the club and jumped into the first cab we saw. Natasha gave the driver her address and told him to step on it.
We arrived not long after, and headed in to her families Toorak mansion, only two streets away from my families home. We got up to her bedroom and changed out of our restricting clothing into something more comfortable, "I think we're safe now," I told her
"Yeah," she sighed, "so what did Clifford want?" She asked
"That reminds me," I began, "what do you think you were doing telling him I wanted out?"
"What it's the truth," she shrugged, "and besides, I think he has a crush on you,"
"It is the truth I do want out," I said, "but you didn't have to go and tell him," I took a breathe, "and what do you mean has a little crush?" I asked, "you know as well as I do, that he doesn't! If he did, he wouldn't have done what he did to me in year ten,"
"He was a misguided fifteen year old boy, and I'm sorry for telling him," she said, "but he saw me in the city, after my class and asked about you, it came up,"
"His age is no excuse to what he did Tash!" I said
"Okay fine," she gave in, "so what did he want?"
"He said he has a plan, to run away from this life, and he wants me to go with him,"
"So what are you gonna do?" She asked me, I thought for a moment. His offer did intrigue me, and I really did want to get away
"I honestly don't know," I said, "I mean would it even work?"
"I mean, you guys definitely both have the money to make this work,"
"But how would both of us get that past our families?"
"Well you remember that guy?"
"What guy?" I asked dumbly
"The one from school, your year level, got arrested,"
"Oh Calvin or something?"
"Yeah him," she said
"What about him?" I asked, "he's Michael's friend and works for Zio Mick,"
"He's like ridiculously smart, I think it's half the reason cops can't arrest your's and Michaels fathers yet,"
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Dad, knows people working for the Federal Police, some guy keeps hacking into their database and wiping all the possible evidence they have on the Clifford's and the Deangelo's,"
"Are you serious?" I gasped, I was in shock. If what she was saying about this guy was true, he could definitely be an asset to Michael and I
"Yeah, apparently he's a decent hacker,"

The next morning I jumped into my black Porsche 911 and drove the two minutes back to my families home. Once inside I walked to my fathers office where the door was closed, I could here voices coming from inside, "I was at Fog last night, sir," I heard the unmistakable voice of my fiancé, Tony, "and I saw Michael Clifford,"
"Another Clifford siting on my turf," papa said, "when will they learn to stay on their own turf?"
"I don't know sir," Tony said
"What was happening?"
"I'm not sure, he was leaving when I saw him, but I'm pretty sure I saw Natasha Konitsky and Maria-Stella there as well," oh fuck, I was done for now. I was so sure Tony hadn't seen us; that we'd gotten away unseen
"Of course they were," papa sighed
"What are we going to do sir?" Tony asked
"Do you think Michael was speaking to Maria-Stella?" Papa asked
"Maria-Stella, if it was her, was outside in the smokers area, and that is exactly where I saw Clifford coming from, before he headed out the door,"
"Interesting," I heard. Then there was silence for a moment, until my father spoke up again, "I'm putting a hit on Michael Clifford,"
"Yes sir," Tony said, "do you want me to organise anyone to take it?"
"Whoever comes across Clifford first," my father said, "this will hopefully teach the Clifford's to stay off our turf and away from my family,"
"I'll get right on it sir," Tony said
"There will be a reward," my father said.
I took the opportunity; while they were talking about the reward, to retreat up to my bedroom on the third floor. I thought Natasha and I were safe, that Tony didn't see us, I was wrong. I pulled out my phone and sent a text to my best friend
