The lock on the back door was easy to pick, and she knew that Rhiannon had incapacitated the deputies outside, meaning that their window to act was limited. It was only a matter of time before someone noticed that Miles was gone, and Alana planned on leaving before that happened. It made things less complicated. The plan was simple: get in, get Miles, and then take him to a remote location. Alana planned on keeping him for a few days before dumping his body somewhere for the FBI to find. So far, she'd been keeping them on their toes. She was certain that once they got word of Miles' disappearance, they'd figure out that they were too late.
She moved through the dim kitchen with quiet, deliberate steps, her gloved hand brushing against the counter as she passed. Every creak of the floorboards beneath her boots seemed louder in the silence, but she kept moving, steady and cold.
She paused for a moment, taking note of the silence in the house. Alana glanced over her shoulder, wondering where the hell Miles was. She didn't hear his footsteps anywhere, not even so much as his breathing. He knew she was here, she realized, and he was hiding. Alana frowned and thundered up the stairs, not bothering with being discreet anymore. She barged into his bedroom, panting as she opened every door in the house, determined to find him. There was no way he was going to be allowed to hide from her. He would come out and face her like a man.
She paused in the bathroom, her hand lingering over the doorknob before she took a careful step toward the shower. She pulled the shower curtain back, and he was on her in a minute. He charged her so quickly that she lost her balance and fell to the floor, Miles on top of her. It made Alana go feral as she tossed him off of her, freeing herself from his grip as he grabbed her ankle. Alana straddled his torso, pinning his arms to the ground with her knees. Miles continued to squirm, screaming for help.
"Who are you?" He demanded. Alana ignored him, reaching into her back pocket, pulling the cap of the needle off with her mouth. "What do you want from me?" He shouted, but Alana paid him no mind. She made quick work of sticking the needle into his neck, and she knew it was only a matter of time before he no longer had control over his body. Once that happened, Rhiannon was going to help her get Miles into the car, and then the real fun would begin.
Alana lowered her hood and the mask that covered the lower half of her face. Miles was already starting to lose consciousness, but she recognized the confusion on his face as he looked at her. "Y-You're a girl?" He questioned, blinking slowly. His words were starting to slur, and Alana looked unamused. The blatant sexism was so incredibly predictable. "Do I know you?"
"Don't worry, Miles," Alana said sweetly, tapping the side of his cheek with a grin. "We're going to be spending the next few days together. Maybe that will jog your memory." His eyes widened in fear and he began to babble incoherently, and Alana rolled her eyes. She wished he would just go to sleep already so she could get the fuck out of this house already. She grunted as she grabbed his legs and began to drag his limp body down the stairs. He groaned when Alana made him hit his head on the banister, and she chuckled. "Oops," she said sweetly. Once she got to the back door, Rhiannon was already there, and she nodded her head slowly. Rhiannon wordlessly took his arms and they made their way back to the car, careful to remain in the shadows. This town was asleep by ten o'clock, so Alana wasn't too worried about being spotted. Even if they were, Rhiannon had been driving a stolen car around in order to cover their tracks. Rhiannon couldn't risk being spotted in town because then the FBI might start to think she was involved in these murders.
Alana would rather go to jail than have Rhiannon take the blame for her. She needed to protect her at all costs, because she knew that if anyone deserved to live after this, it was Rhiannon. She would be okay without Alana, if it came down to that.
